I believe the crows probably took the babies. Sorry, that's what I
meant by rough. The crows have to feed their babies too. That's
Mother Nature, rough survival.
Next year check for the babies before you mow, and leave three feet
around them un mowed so they remain hidden. Remember, you didn't see
them until you were almost on top of them. Of course momma rabbit may
have moved them. I hope so, but I don't think so.

Thanks Professor. I feel really bad now :-( I didn't mean to put them in
danger. I hope nobody thinks I am a bad person, though I don't blame them if
they do. This has me so depressed :-(
By the way, I did leave some space around them so that I could know how far
to go around, but I guess it wasn't enough. Do you think she will want to
return to make a nest in my yard again???
One small positive thing (or maybe it is nothing at all), is that I think
the mother is still around. I saw her eating some of my neighbors flowers.
I am going to hug my bunny tonite and tell her how sorry I am for putting
her baby cousins in danger. By the way, I saw one hopping around, so I think
he/she got away.
I hope you all forgive me. I feel like such a bad person. I am so sorry.

If the babies didn't make it, then perhaps it was so that the crow's
babies could. Nature is a scary place, and wild bunnies are pretty much
"Nature's TakeOut".
My Pepper Bunny was dumped at puberty in a park, and with her
black/white coloring it's a miracle she survived.
I just try not to think about the ones who don't.

No one here believes you are a bad person, and neither should you.
Many people posting here have had the exact same thing happen to them.
After all, how could you know that there was a rabbit's nest hidden in
the grass. It was hidden! Perhaps a bunny will grace your yard with
kitts next year. This time you will be ready. Don't be depressed.

Thank you for the replies. I think it is hurting less now, so I appreciate
all the advice. I am sorry I don't post more often. I will re-introduce
myself soon.

Sometimes Mother Nature isn't very nice.
