Ok, I feel like the boy who cried "my wolf died". Last night, I almost
thought I would have to take Cocoa in for emergency pts, but his appetite
actually improved and he peed some. He ate lots of salad and grass, but was
still having gassy noises and horror movie poops. Oddly enough, we went for
a short sling walk last night...he seemed to want to get moving from two
days of not having any walks at all. Ok, so we did a lap around the coffee
table and he ate some bits of carrot.
I came out early this morning and fed him more grass which he devoured
hungrily, then I went back to bed. When I got up, I was surprised to find
some fairly decent cecals which he hasn't had for almost five days.
He even ate some hay today. I think the reglan kick-started him and is
keeping him on track. Obviously his gut slowed down...which as Ronie said
will happen more as he ages, so this is most likely a reprieve for a bit.
So, I'm sure we're not out of the woods...it just may be a temporary
unending that could last for a while...ok, we'll take that, but I sure
thought it was the end.
Yesterday, we laid on the couch together and napped. I'm glad I was able to
stay home to nurse him, though I wonder with my German work ethic mind if I
should have gone. *sigh*
So, today we're going to try our longer walk and see if he will eat on his
own more. I will go to work for a few hours at least. I told my customer the
situation...she's ok with it for now.
Cecals are definitely a good sign. Bunny guts sure are funny...almost
science fiction...they are little aliens in fur...LOL
Sorry if I got you all scared. I felt quite calm, but I wasn't allowing
myself to think about anything but taking care of him. I'm sure it was a
good dry run learning experience...so, we're on alert til next time whenever
that may be.
Thanks for your prayers...please don't stop.
I'll keep you updated.

Not at all and don't think it for one second.
Every minute of everyday with the ones we love is a blessing and we should
all give thanks for that.
You're both still in our prayers.
God bless you both.

I am so glad that Cocoa rebounded for you. I could
not offer any advise because at Cocoa's age, it is hard
to say how to react or provide any countermeasures.
(especially, with all his different issues)
Gut issues can knock a bunny *out of the ring* just by
themselves, alone. So, it sounds like Reglan was the key
to resolving this particular event. (the Metacam, too)
I was certainly right with you sharing what was being a
*at wits end* ordeal.
This should be a reminder to all of us that a bunny is
still a bunny and that though they have particular issues,
they can still get an old case of the gas along the way.
(if I'm making any sense)

We're not going to stop the prayers for Cocoa, but jumping for joy

Arlette!
You always have our prayers, that's the easy part. The attention, love,
& dedication, you have given to Cocoa, "Now that's special". You have
done the exact right thing. Imagine if you had gone to work & Cocoa did
not make it. No doubt in my mind. You pulled him through. You Shine
Girl! And as a PS, Reglan saves My Jumpy twice. He had the same
symptoms as Cocoa. He will be 7 years old June 21, on the summer
solstice.
All our love!

Thanks everyone...your support here means the world to me, eventhough I
couldn't talk on the phone...sorry Deb. I just needed to focus. I was afraid
I would get too emotional and be useless.
Cocoa was better to day. He ate a whole plate of salad all my himself
without me having to hand feed him, and he went for a short walk. He also
did a good pee twice so far today. He's waiting for me now...I'm tardy. He
even ate some hay and bunches of grass.
I'm so glad I had the reglan on hand. I happen to get extra after the
Christmas mini bout of stasis. I think you're right Daryl, it did bring him
back from the brink. His poops still look very weird, we'll see if that gets
sorted.
Ok, I better get his night stuff. I'm kind of late. We did a short trip to
the Minnesota border to pick up some orders: birthday gifts and Father's day
gifts. :)
I'll keep you all posted! Thanks again for all your prayers and help!!!!!!!

I tried Beth's suggestion of Olive Oil when Oreo had his bout with GI
problems, and I think it really helped.
We'll keep praying for you and the little guy, give him a nose rub for
me.

This is wonderful news, Arlette. It's such a relief that he's
rallied. It may only be temporary, as you say, but wonderful that
you're getting this extra time with him, and that he feels so much
better that he wants to move around and to eat.
Nosebonks sent from the Varmints and hugs and noserubs from me.
