This programme has just been on Channel 4 in the UK this evening.
It had a section at the end about the presenter's search for
large bunnies.
He went and saw 2 guys in Germany, one of whom was the one
in the famous photo of the (late) huge bunny.
I had mixed feelings. Also, the presenter was whining when one
of the bunnies bit him. What did he expect, as a stranger, handling
the bunnies and picking them up like that?
The bunnies were cute, and large, and had lovely twitchy noses.
I had to wonder as he said the German word for rabbit,
"Kaninchen", whether the diminutive suffix "-chen" was really
appropriate for such big bunnies!
I was also mindful that I think one of the German guys, though
POSSIBLY not one of the ones in this programme, was apparently
breeding them to export to the far east for purposes-other-than-
being-pets.
Anyway, the bunnies were nice to see.
Did anyone else see it?

Hi
I thought he just made a fool of himself! He couldn't find the place; when
he did his contact had had to leave for another appointment; and he relied
on his satnav which was uncooperative. Good for the bun for biting him, and
risking catching something awful from him.

Hi.
I saw your reply at work using a different news server, but
here at home, I can't see your posts so dunno whether it'll
propagate to this server.
Anyway, I agree. Those hutches were ridiculously small, and
I feel so sorry for the poor bunnies.
And I thought the same thing about the big English bunny;
she wasn't hopping or walking normally at all, I noticed.
I get so angry when I think about people mistreating bunnies,
I can barely control myself.

Oh Martin, I hated that show. So many abused animals.
And the conditions they were keeping those poor bunnies in - dreadful,
small hutches with no chance to run and play. As the presenter said
it was on an industrial scale. I wonder what happened to the poor
bunnies that didn't make the grade? There was one bun circling and
circling and circling his cage, poor thing. I found it heartbreaking
And at the end the huge English bun, Amy, who seemed to have lost the
use of her back legs though from the way the woman held her you'd have
thought she was a sack of potatoes. And did you see her nose and
eye? gungy and horrible. Looked like snuffles to me.
What a message to put out to beginners about what's 'okay' as a way of
keeping bunnies.
