Hi all,
Cocoa just finished going for his walk...or maybe I should call it a glide
as I had to help him quite a lot. lol
The boy is eating well, drinking...his urine output is slower, but he had a
good big pee this morning.
His poops look like they must be painful to pass. Here are a couple of links
to fecal photos if you can to take a look and make any comments you wish to.

It looks like completely undigested food to me, I think his bowels aren't
able to digest the food and take the nutrients from it. The fiber + medicine
keeps his peristalitic movements intact, but that's all. Poor baby :(

if the not digesting thing is right.. try some bunny vits. make sure
there are minerals in it. it might be easier for him to absorb liquids
to get what he needs.. keep up any acidophilous etc you might be using.
if not. get some. the food and vits should be good. his poor old body
is trying so hard. got to help him along some.
i would also give 1ml of aloe vera juice per day. it helps to heal the
gut..... any more questions about any of this. you know where i am if
you need a quickie answer... ok?
not many of us get the pleasure of a bunny this old. i want to help
since i ahve been there as you know. ok?

they look very dry, are they? i would give him a 1ml syringe of olive
oil at least once a day.
maybe he needs electrolites... pedialite.. non flavored..

No, actually, the poops are quite moist, even more so than normal ones. He
is getting subQ fluids, and juicy weeds/veggies and he drinks a lot when I
hold him over his bowl. Thanks Beth!
Where do I get Aloe Vera juice? Health food store? Is it for human
consumption?

Gosh, I hate giving advise because these guys can
fool you so many ways.
Those poops look like Junior's after eating lots of
grass hay after a gas/gastrointestinal episode.
All I can say is: keep helping him on his walks and
keep the fluids going. Keep up the Reglan and
Metacam.
(wish we know his most recent blood work and all
that)
When Junior gets his gastro episodes, the Metacam
helps a a lot. Maybe it is an inflammatory thing that he
gets but, the Metacam sure does make him pee and
poop again after a few days.
But, Junior has to be forced feed and with Cocoa,
he is eating on his own........... That is a very good
thing for Cocoa!
Cocoa would not be eating on his own if he was very sick!

Yes true Daryl,
Cocoa hasn't stopped eating on his own, though for a few days, I had to hand
feed him the cut up very small bits. He seems to get tired if he has to chew
too long and hold his head up. Maybe his neck is just sore. He has arthritis
and that lump to push against. If you saw the lump, you would be aghast. It
makes him look like Quasi Moto. Because he is black, you don't see it right
away.
He emptied a big plate of greens this morning, and grass during the day.
This afternoon, he did have a few cecals which I fed to him.
He is still having gas, so I massaged his tummy which made him feel better,
because he does do the odd loud tooth grind. I pushed the gas lower for more
bunny toots.
I'll have to call the vet for more Reglan soon too.
K, gotta go get him some dandies. I'll keep you posted.

Hi Arlette,
I'm so happy to hear that Cocoa is still eating and drinking. I was
wondering if he might benefit from some Critical Care? That would allow him
to absorb the most nutrients with the least amount of energy and he wouldn't
have to chew/swallow so much. Because of Aimee's ongoing tummy issues, she
gets a saucer in the morning and another in the evening. She likes it so
much, she just slurps it right up! :-)
I would highly recommend the Apple Banana flavoured one for bunnies. I buy
mine in one pound packages from Canadian Pet Connection and I'm pretty sure
they could express mail it to you. Buying it that way is much cheaper than
the small packages and you don't need a prescription. Just a thought!
Please keep us posted on how Cocoa is doing!
Take care,
Martha and Aimee
