Ours can handle hardwood floors, but I learned from someone who has
had YEARS of experience with rabbits that hardwood floors aren't all
that good for rabbits. To maintain their balance and hop on the
floors causes extra stress on their shoulders and over time can be
dangerous. We have hardwood floors and now have lots of area rugs and
runners. Ours race on the rugs and hop to the next one. Last weekend
Biscuit was running back to his room; he usually stays on the runner
and turns there and hops over the hardwood, but this time he turned on
the wood floor and his feet went right out from under him. Thankfully
he wasn't hurt.
