Rufus is still with me - it won't be long now. He's completely
emaciated. Every bone in his body is now visible. he has no body
mass at all. He's very unsteady on his feet, more weak then ever
before.
He will still eat, and gets beside himself for treats such as craisins
and raisins. the other day while spending our hour together, we
shared a peach. he dribbled all over me - i thought it was so cute.
Everytime i pick him up now, i'm afraid i'm gonna break him. he
doesn't use his potty box anymore - so we have ALOT of bedding for
him. he just can't get in the box and position himself. I just
recently got a few bags of sheets from a friend - and just in time.
so as long as he shows interest in eating, i'll keep going with him.
when he's too tired, it will be time.
it's hard to see your best friend fade. sighhh
He was such a good camping buddy. he used to run around with one ear
in his mouth because he always stepped on his ears. he used to be
able to jump up into his condo and out on his own. I miss my able
bodied little man. but he deserves all the care i can give him now
because of all the joy he brought me through the years.
I love him so much....
Hope that i'm home when he's ready to go, and hope i know when it's
time

Ronie, I hate hearing that the noble Rufus is fading. He is such a
p___er. Literally and figuratively!
What a guy!
I will never forget him hopping around the other buns' enclosures at our
'fest, spraying whoever was dumb bunny enough to challenge him.
He could move, too, with that ear in his mouth!
I remember that sometimes you'd use a barrette or clothespin to keep his
big old ears out of his way.
Please give him my best. I love that bun.
And the same for the double-timing Ling and Milton. (I almost wrote
"Ming and Lilton"). Mine almost seem to laugh when they get me going
like that?
Tonight Orph and Hubs managed to snag a couple of bags of cable ties.
Those things are strong, but no match for bunny teeth!

I hate to hear how thin he has become, just keep him going the best yo
can. Such a strong little man. Sending vibes for comfort and no distres
for him. Carla Liza and Jodie

You could try giving him some peanuts. They helped Cocoa keep some weight on
and gave him energy.

Dear Ronie,
How well you know that little bun. He must feel so accepted and at rest. You
are sticking with him and accepting all that comes with it.
I'd love to see a picture with him holding his own ear, but probably he was
too fast to get the camera out?
Take care
Els

Awww Ronie. It makes me so sad...it is SO hard to see our furry friends in
decline... It's comforting when they live good long lives, but that means
that in addition to their tenacity, our love and care helps them stay with
us until it's their Time - and that's when we find ourselves watching the
end, as you are. :-( It's hard.
My prayers are with you and Rufus - and I know you'll know when it's time.
:-) And I'm soooo glad Rufus has had you all these years to make his life
so wonderful!
Hugs gf - Laurie

I'm very sorry to hear about Rufus. I am so glad i got to meet him.
He was racing all over my living room. Wouldnt stop.. I thought he
had a wind up thing in his back.. He made us laugh. And.. Of coarse..
he was carrying that darn ear around.. I always called him the
energizer bunny!!
