Since it is really hot now can a bunny be lightly misted with water to help
him stay cool or is this not a good idea?

You can lightly mist their ears as that is where the most heat is released.
I tried that on Cocoa before and he just cleaned the moisture off. LOL I
don't think he cared for it too much.

I bought Cocoa a small fan for air circulation, and many people use 2 liter
pop bottles filled with frozen water for their bunnies to lay near.  Again,
Cocoa would never lay near them, but I know some do.

Laying down some ceramic tile which attract coolness works.
Cocoa just liked laying in the shade on our deck outside with the breezes
blowing. :)

Shouldn't hurt, but do a web search for "swamp cooler". Easy to set up,
cheap. and runs by itself.

I used some water to wipe on the back of the ears and it cools down abit.
Also, I have a dolomite tile for DooBDoo and she loves to lay on  it, with
the air-con as well.

When we had that heat wave a couple of weeks ago..  I froze a water
bottle which he loves to lay against.  and bought some cheap tiles.
which he likes to lay on.. even now that i have air conditioning.  I
put the frozen water bottle where he lays just to see what he does..
he had the choice of not to lay against it or not.. and He Does still
like it.. he even licks the bottle sometimes.. but he will lick or
take a bite out of almost everything.  LOL  ANd Professor,, he loves
his daily cherry!!!!!

Well I guess I will not do the misting thing. He has an air conditioned
rabbit room, his own personal fan, and nice cool tile to rest on. I was just
looking for other options. I may try the frozen ice pack idea. Should I wrap
it in a towel or just leave it out for him to try out?
Arlette & Cocoa - 26 Jun 2008 17:18 GMT
I wrapped mine in a face cloth, because I thought he might give himself
frost bite,. and to stop water from pooling on the floor, but I've seen
pictures of bunnies with their frozen bottles with nothing on them. They do
like licking the cold bottle.

Well it's not working according to plan. I wrapped the freezer packs and put
them in his nest, which is an area inside the footprint of one of my dining
room chairs (I surrendered that to him a long time ago).  The first thing he
did was try and throw it out of his nest. Then he peeled back the towel
wrapper and started biting on the freezer block itself. So I moved it out on
the tile floor and he's shown no interest in it since.
Arlette & Cocoa - 30 Jun 2008 07:16 GMT
I'd be a bit concerned about freezer packs as they could have toxic stuff
inside them. I would stick to freezing water in a bottle.
My Cocoa didn't like the frozen stuff either. LOL
