Precious's surgery

Hi guys,

Lady Precious is scheduled for surgery monday morning. I guess it's a
combination of exploratory and trying to fix whatever it is.

We've noticed in the last week that she's straining to pee and it's pretty
strong smelling. It seems she's peeing on herself. Any recommendations about
cleaning her bum? We don't want to stress her but it's a shame she has to go
through this.

We've also noticed she's not drinking that much. I have been making sure her
greens etc are really wet (she loves them) so at least I know she's getting
some fluids in. Should we be giving her some water through a syringe?

We're wondering if the lump may be impacting on her bladder. I guess we will
find out Monday. I hope the old girl does ok. It would be heartbreaking if
something happens after rescuing her.

Well, wish us luck and keep the prayers and vibes coming.

Sounds like it could be a bladder stone. Cocoa had a large one removed six
years ago. Prayers for the dear girl.

Debbie and Joe, I'll keep Precious in my prayers for a successful
surgery and quick recovery.  Hope she comes through with flying
colors!  Eugene will also keep his paws crossed for his APR friend
too.

Maybe you can dilute her drinkingwater with a little fruitjuice or grated
carrots, so she will like it more. It's very important to keep her well
hydrated but giving water in a syringe is rather stressful and risky.

To clean her bum, you could soak a towel in warm water with a tiny bit of
very soft babysoap, and place her bum on it. Then 'wash' her bum with the
wet towel, making sure you only wet the parts that need to be washed, and
not her entire belly. Again, not too much stress as she's having a hard time
already.

I really hope tomorrow will be a success and Precious will be fine soon.

Take care!

I hope it goes well, Joe.  Yes, I'd syringe water into her, and add
some cranberry juice to the water - maybe some electrolytes as well
just to make her feel better.

I'll be thinking of you and her.
