I have noticed over the last several months thaat Raul has become a
much more mellow rabbit. He isn't a snuggle bun and I doubt he ever
will be, but he has come to respond to cheek rubs a lot and will stay
in my arms for a while with a sense of relaxation, which had not been
the case for a long time. [I always suspected that when he was in his
original home in his bunny childhood he was mistreated. He was
skittish about hoomins but very attached to Kuni.]
He also has a look of wisdom in his face that is hard to describe, and
something of a look of comtentment. He still dominates Kuni, but is
more laid-back about it. He is dominant with Noodles but doesn't push
it, especially as she is now bigger thsn he is ;-). I don't know if
it's just slowing down or if he's finally gotten a sense of security
after 7 years here, but he seems to have found his comfort zone. He
sure does love his hammock.
When I picked them up from the bunny spa after boarding [AKA Long
Beach Animal Hospital, where everyone knows them] his report card said
"Raul is the best bunny EVER!"

Sounds exactly like my Jump. I could write the same thing, just
substitute my boys names. Sigh! My Jump is already seven like Raul.
Put him on glucosamine like Jump. Don't wait for him to get stiff
joints We all love him. Read my post, "Beautiful Jump".

I think even the toughest bun gets mellow with age.. I know miss bazy
was never a snuggle bun.. she was a snitty bun... but as she got older
and then sicker.. she only wanted her momma.... I cried over her
today... it just happened... I hope i did everything i could for
her...

Hi
I like the sound of his hammock. Could we have details/pics, please.

Aww, the best bunny! That's so sweet. I noticed Cocoa kind of calmed down at
that age too. I think that is sort of bunny middle age years where they
mellow out a bit.

I've started to see this happening with my Buster too. He is still
very young, between a year and a year and a half old, but he'll follow
me around a lot more now and actually let people pick him up and hold
him for a while. He used to HATE being picked up and I was the only
one that could pet him, so it's a welcome change. Hopefully as he
ages, he mellows out even more =).

Reminds me of Boo Boo. You would not believe he is the same rabbit
that took chunks of flesh out of the hubby & I. We are both full of
scars from that rabbit. Now he is the biggest snuggle bun ever. He
jumps on the couch and snuggles up to hubby for pets. Age and of
course Nicholas have made the difference, I'm sure.
