HI

For some time I've noticed that H will pee somewhere and then lap up some of
the liquid. She doesn't need water as she drinks from a fountain or from an
open dish when she need to. I thought she might need minerals and put a
block into her hutch, which she occupies most of the night and early morning
until she gats put into her day run on grass, but it seemed to be ignored. I
removed it when the metal of the front mesh started to rust.

Is this another "Rabbit thing", or does it indicate a need?

I've never heard of a bun doing that, but some of the more rabbit-
savvy people on here could probably tell you something. Heard that
mineral blocks are useless too. You might want to bring it up to your
vet. Carla Liza and Jodie.

May be she likes to use dishes to drink water?
My fd's rabbits like to use dishes to drink water rather than bottle...

However, mui did not drink water after her leg problem two yrs ago,

now even she can drink by herself...she would wait for vegies and my
feediing with some critical care...
she is ok since her caclium level is not good...i just need to adjust...

mineral block is not so good, either artificial things
or too much mineral which may affect her kidney/bladder etc....
she should get enough mineral from her pellets and hay usually..

I have wondered myself. Hendrik will very occasionaly do this. I have never
found when he will and when he won't. Maybe it smells good after something
they've eaten? If H has a balanced diet (hay, veggies, grass & pellets), I
wouldn't give her any extra minerals, as it can easily give them too much
calcium or salt.
Let's hope it's just a 'rabbit thing'!

Hi

Little H is about 7 years old so it obviously has not done her any great
harm.

Her main diet is pellets with grass available during the day in her run. The
pellets are supplemented with a few Shreddies and bits of carrot, and a few
Romaine leaves. Oh and about 3-5 raisins.

She wont eat anything else. Not even banana or apple.

Panda is the same but without the drinking habit.
