HeyPet - 28 Aug 2008 01:24 GMT Hi, Thanks to Professor, Beth, Carla, Lisa, Els, and Anthony .....esp... from little lionhead Mui...
She had actually gave me notification last two days, as I told Beth, she made noises using her nose again ...telling me something...unwell or what ever... and i saw her getting more nervous suddenly and turned around more sometimes... so i was getting ready as well...
She had been on Phenonbarbitone for about 22 days already, twice a day after I talked to vet last time and had a blood test again...
I saw her fall down a few times last two days as well, and one time before the seizure, totally upside down and cannot move herself...I did not know if any siezure before the one i saw in fact...
I gave valium the injection and she screamed and struggled and then rested...
this injection works better than the last one...
If any rabbit friend here have more info about other rabbit's seizure real case internationally, if possible, pls pass me more info about their problem, I would like to take it as reference...
We suppose to recheck with the vet next Tuesday, I will see if the vet will be on this few days... Hope we can wait, and we have medicine and injection still.....
We need more prayers here...she seems quite nervous and sensitive this morning as well...
Thanks, Frustrated Petrina
Nona - 28 Aug 2008 05:51 GMT Prayers for your bunny baby, Petrina.
Seizures can be quite mysterious, even in humans.
The cause may never be known.
The good thing is that they could stop for no reason, too.
Nona
HeyPet - 28 Aug 2008 13:57 GMT Yes, she is postive with E-Cunuculi and she has taken pancur, baytril for over 1 months and stopped already. If it is ear problem, it should be cured as well....with the baytril....?!
When she was a baby, I came to ask as well, coz she would have 1-3 seizures during each winter. However, it stopped for last winter and it came this summer with many many many.... Very mysterious.....she is not poisonious, no hitting on her head...
1st time to 2nd time, there are 27 days gap 2nd time to 3rd time, there are 23 days gap 3rd time to this time, there are 22 days gap....
Wondering if it would be a cycle...even she is on seizure medicine fore 22 days non stop already... Valium injection is controlling her seizure?....probably...
I have many questions in my head and even vets cannot tell me absolutely.... sigh....
Thanks, Nona.

You need to give her Metacam (meloxicam) to reduce swelling in her brain.
It would depend on whether you have the older or the newer sort of the drug available but if it's the older type, i believe the dosage rate is approx 1ml (1cc) for a rabbit that weighs 3.5 pounds (1.6kg) That isn't exact, but since the drug isn't actually licenced for rabbits, it's as close as I've been able to find out.
EC parasites get into the brain and cause problems in there and it's the swelling they cause that may be starting off her seizures. Please ask your vet for some Metacam.

HeyPet - 28 Aug 2008 18:38 GMT Hi Ros,
She had metacam for her legs for long time, about 2yrs already. But after seizure, they stop her metacam. I am not sure why. I will ask them again.
She took Panacur for e-cunuculi for about 1 month and baytril mroe than 1 month.
When she had the first 50 seizure in 2 days, she was on metacam as well.
Can EC be cured totally? What else can help her?

Hope you can get some of the suggested medicines, if just to make her more comfortable. I wish she could get rid of this. Carla Liza and Jodie.

I've forwarded a link to this thread to a friend who knows a lot more about it than I do and I hope she'll join the group and post to you, or else mail you privately.
In the meantime, I would advise you ask the vet about restarting Metacam.
Very best wishes
Ros
HeyPet - 29 Aug 2008 18:12 GMT Thanks Ros,
