I was on the computer last night and heard a loud noise, sounded lik
thrashing around. Jodie was on his back thrashing around on the floo
trying to upright hisself. I was frantic and picked him up as quickly a
possible. He was devestated looking. I thought he must have bee
scratching because when he does, he extends his back leg out far an
sometimes does not balance well, he is portly. I hope this does not happe
again. I really need to know what to do about getting him to lose a littl
or some weight. I have tried rationing, but he is really not a big eater
and it seems not getting much exercise, he has free range and he just lay
by Liza looking for grooming and love. She eats most of his food, too.
also have narrowed down his poopybutt problems to italian parsley. When h
eats curly parsley, no poopybutt issues. Carla Liza and Jodie. I so don'
want this to happen again. I was so worried to go to work this morning

Arlette & Cocoa - 29 Aug 2008 22:29 GMT
Hi Carla,
Lack of indoor exercise was also a problem with Cocoa. I find free roam
bunnies get bored of their surroundings easily. The answer for Cocoa was
time outdoors each day. Outside, he would explore and binky and get lots of
exercise. If that is a possibility for Jodie, then I would go for that.

Can you give us an overview of Jodie's daily intake? There still may need to
be a reduction in pellets, or even changing to a higher fibre, lower
fat/protein pellet. Does he eat much hay?

Hi Carla,

Pellets are usually the main food to get fat, or some sweet stuff.
If the bunny is absorbing well, he can gain weight with only hay as well.
My fd's bunny only eats hays to reduce weight, but failed coz she was
absorbing so well...

Mui is weak and thin, no matter what she eats, still skinny , since young...
I understand how you feel,
Mui has 1 leg problem, if she turns around quickly, she will get up side
down,
back on the floor, she totally cannot get up herself...
this is why i cannot leave her at home alone now...

Hope Jodie is well today.

Jodie is just two since March. He has been rationed on the pellets has
hay stuffed in the front, back inside of his willow tent and his two
litterboxes. I live in an apt. complex with no balcony and a great
dane for a neighbor, which already makes them nervous inside the apt.
when it barks. Going outside has always been a thought, but I tried
the leash thing with my Dumplings, and it was a fiasco. Carla Liza and
Jodie.

Poor Jodie!  Maybe you can get him to play for exercise.  I know that
all of my buns will chase or roll a loose ball on the floor if you
keep rolling it near them.  Or maybe find some sort of interactive
treat game.  Louise will go nuts chasing me if I have craisins in my
hand.  She follows me around the living room while I give out the
nightly treat.  hershey used to be quite rolly polly until I cut down
his pellets and gave him more run time.
