Okay, folks, Christopher Rabbit needs some vibes. Something's going on with
his respiratory system -- runny eyes, some sneezing, and this funny
untypical clucking sound when he's upset (as in getting nails clipped) or
active (as in eating cecals... yes, that's an active thing). He is eating
and pooping well, so I'm not totally distressed, but kind of worried.

The good news is that there is a new vet in town who not only claims to know
rabbits, but has rabbits herself. I am SO excited!

Unfortunately I can't get in to see her until Thursday, so keep those vibes
coming. I know how fast bunnies can go downhill, and this time lag
definitely has me worried. <big sigh> At least I don't have to try to get
into Vancouver for this.

Arlette, I'll let you know how it goes and whether we have a new vet for our
rabbit-savvy lists.

Thanks Michele!

I'm sorry that CR isn't feeling tip top. That clucking sounds reminds me a
bit of Cocoa...it could be from drainage in the head somewhere. That is what
put Cocoa on bicillin permanently, but he was so old, it was prevention as
well.
Gee, couldn't you call and beg and plead a bit more...if that vet knows
bunnies, she/he must know that four days is a long time if a bun has an
infection. If that's what it is. Don't mean to worry you...it never hurt to
plead a little :)

How are his teeth?

I'm very thrilled if you do get a rabbit savvy vet!!!!

If Beth is correct, then he needs to see a vet asap. Pneumonia can develop
very quickly with a respiratory infection. Please try to impress upon the
vets this urgency.

I'm afraid that my schedule is part of the problem, too... It's not just the
vet.

I do know that CR is definitely not 100% okay AND that rabbits hide illness
well, but he is definitely hanging in there, and I'm watching him carefully.
Right now he's chowing down on a broccoli plant minus the broccoli -- a
favourite treat of his at this time of year. The leaves and stalks make for
as much a toy as food.

If he starts to go downhill at all, my story will certainly change. Please
keep those vibes coming!!!!

I hope that Christopher will get the help he needs, you are fortunate
to find such a vet in close proximity. Sending positive vibes. Carla
Liza and Jodie.

Hi

Picking up on Michele's last para:- Arlette does you list include vets this
(eastern) side of the Atlantic? I could add a very good one in Cardiff.

Hi Richard,
Yes please dear, I collect all names of good bunny vets. The UKcompanion
rabbit list keeps a good list of vets and I will put their link on my page,
but you have to join their group to see the list. Usually I would put the UK
vets on there, but I think I'll list them separately as well.

I just need to update my site.

if the vet is in, they will always take you as an emergency walk in. i
have had to do this many times to get in asap... they charge a little
extra fee..

If you can't actually get to the vet in person until Thursday, I'd
suggest at least getting a good hearty phone consult ASAP.  This
sounds a bit like Kuni when he has had two flares of an upper
respiratory infection and has needed Baytril.  So far, Lasst year's
flare took a few courses of different antibiotics, (not to mention
some scarring on my part when I had to give Kuni nose drops for a
couple of them =:-P ) and the one this summer that we caught very
early was knocked out with a 10 day course of Baytril.  My little
soulbunny has been doing well since then.

Stuff like Pasteurella can stay nasal and yucky for a while but it can
turn on a rabbit so quickly too-I tend to worry about that one.

Many healing vibes and prayer to Christopher Rabbit and for Michele
too from alll of down south in Long Beach.

Cheers, Diva
Raul [I'm having flashbacks of the bunny burrito, isn't that covered
in the Geneva Convention?]. Kuni [banana Baytril...must...resist...]
and Noodles [she stuck those drops WHERE?  YECCH!]
