I assume what you want to know are the possible diagnoses. Here you go:
1. Rhinitis or inflammation of the nasal passages -- due to infectious
causes, eg bordatella, pasteurella, staphylococcus, myxomatosis
2. Foreign body -- eg grass seed/awn
3. Abscess -- foreign body or external trauma or excessively long roots of
the premolar or abscess in the lungs
4. Granuloma of the larynx
5. Neoplasia or cancer
6. Tracheal/wind pipe disease -- foreign body or neoplasia
7. Bronchial disease
8. Bronchopneumonia
9. Inhaled irritants
Note that these are *possibilities* and not necessarily what she thinks is
going on. I'm not sure they're in any particular order.
I didn't mention in my previous email that she did check his teeth and he
does have spurs, but they aren't too bad and as long as he is eating well,
she is not concerned about them at this point.
So there you go!

Basically, with such vague symptoms, it could be anything.
He seems bouncier today. I think just clearing the tear ducts really made a
difference, and perhaps the antibiotics and anti-inflammatory are already
doing their thing.

Sounds like a good vet visit Michele. I pray that CR responds to the
treatment! Thanks for the vet reference.

Hooray! About time you found a GOOD vet you don't have to go through all
sorts of craziness to get to!!! That's got to be a real relief!

I hope CR, doesn't have pasteurella, but if so, at least the baytril will
help - I know both Roger and Rosie were always tooooo ready to get their
banana flavored baytril fix! :-)

Are they going to culture that swab? At least you'll know what the bug is
then.

Awwww. Amazing how well they behave when they're not sure they're not about
to be eaten. ;-) Of course they know WE won't eat them, so they can afford
to be their little dickens selves! Seriously though, I do believe theyknow
when someone's trying to help them. After everything I went through with
Rosie when she had her broken pelvis, she never tried to bite me again.
LOL - JON on the other hand, she continued to scare to death! :-)

Let us know how he's doing Michelle. Is Todd the Dog doing well these days
in the new digs? No more hassles?

Yes, indeed! This trip to the vet was long overdue, and it's so much easier
to head north for all of 15 minutes on the highway than to deal with
ferries. It's just the cherry on the top that I not only respect her, but
LIKE her!

I sure hope it isn't pasteurella. The vet was wondering how CR might have
caught it if he is strictly an indoor bunny, but I asked her if it could
have been latent for these past 4 years, and she said yes. He was a stray so
it's very possible. If he does have it, I'll just have to deal with it, I
guess. And are you serious? Is it actually possible to disguise the flavour
of that hideous baytril stuff?

Yes.

CR is actually pretty docile overall -- way easier to handle than any of my
previous three. He just kind of freezes and allows you to do whatever. It's
just his nails that I can't do... (And I'm really lucky that the mother of
one of my piano students is a dental hygienist -- that is, somebody with
really great hand-eye coordination -- who loves animals and is very happy to
help me with his nails!)
What amazes me is how I expect him to hate me after putting him through all
that vet stuff and the subsequent meds, but he just gets cuddlier and
friendlier. I'm wondering if flushing the tear ducts, as uncomfortable a
procedure as it is, really feels better afterwards.
> Is Todd the Dog doing well these days in the new digs? No more hassles?
He's doing great, and I didn't move after all! I wasn't able to sell my
house, and the folks giving me all the hassles ended up moving anyway. We've
been doing well. My old boy and I are still out on the trails pretty well
every day, and while he's slowing down, he looks great for his age.
(Gee, it amazes me how much some members of this group remember about each
other... I can't keep track of the rabbits even...)

Hehehe - I have a talent for trivia - and I consider my friends on this
group WAY more important than trivia! :-)
My bf is constantly amazed at the things I remember - LOL - and the BIG
things I don't! ;-)
Glad you got to stay in your place - I know you loved it other than the
goofy neighbors. Glad they left!

Christopher Rabbit is on the prayer list, too, Michele. I hope his
difficulties are minor, and clear up in a trice.
It's wonderful that you have a new vet you like and trust.
