Hi to all of you. I just finished watching the most reassuring videos
on you tube ! Especially of cute little Cocoa! I'm sorry for your loss
and yet commend you for all the love and care that you give to your
little bunny till the end. Although I'm still hoping that Gracies
handicaps are temporary, it is nice to know that there is hope, even
if there is a chance that she may never gain the use of her legs
again. It seems to me that she is getting some better. Is this too
much to hope for? Has anyone seen this situation before with the
outcome that I am hoping for or am I just dreaming? Please be honest,
I want to know your honest opinions! I had a beautiful lop-ear bunny
that had a stroke and lost use of his back end, of course it ended in
euthanasia, not only because the situation looked grim, but that the
vet was not so rabbit savvy. Part of it was my fear of not being able
to give it the proper care without the advisement of a knowledgeable
caretaker, such as my vet. It was not encouraging at all. However,
this situation seems totally different, and I have educated myself a
bit more since. My Gracie is in no pain, I am certain of this. She has
been enjoying her fresh red clover from the hay field this evening. By
the way, she says thank you to Arlette for the diet suggestions! She
is much appreciative. I think I'm finally getting that bond with her
after all. Don't get me wrong, it's still a struggle, but we are
improving. Much thanks to all for your help, I will keep you all
informed of her progress! Gracie & I

Hi Dear,
Yes, educating yourself in this situation will bring you some hope as many
have dealt with it positively. My Cocoa was disabled for three years and did
very well.
Just a caution on the clover...go a bit easy with it as it can cause bloat.
Grasses, dandelions, plantains are great!
It is possible that your bun could regain use of her legs. It depends on the
cause...if the spinal nerve was pinch or twisted or there was inflammation
in the spine, these things can improve. In the meantime, you can also try
some very gentle massage of the legs/thighs.
You can't be totally sure that a rabbit isn't in pain as they hide it very
well. An anti imflammatory like metacam would be helpful if there was an
injury.
So, you think you're getting a better vet near you? That would be fabulous.
Keep up the good work...you're a very caring bunny owner.
Watch for any soft poos in case Gracie isn't used to the greens. Grass
usually doesn't have an negative affects, but if she gets soft poos, then
reduce the greens.
So glad we could help...me and Cocoa :) He's still helping buns from heaven.
