Once again GMRS has struck! As usual I had no intentions of even looking at
rats, but a couple of hours ago, I was told there was a long wait at the
chemists, so I thought I'd just pop in the pet shop a couple of doors down
and get a new water bottle. Once inside I saw some beautiful little babies,
up til then I'd never seen such small rats, only in pics. They must have just
been weaned, they were so tiny. I also spotted 2 slightly older
babies(normal size when you get them) and fell in love with them. One's got
a beige(?) hood and the other is dark brown/black with a white belly and
socks. I've yet to think of names for them.
I cant believe I got more rats! I knew I would eventually, but not again so
soon. So far this year, I've got 5 rats. I have to stop otherwise my cat
will be seriously peed off!!
Everyone I know already thinks i'm mad for having 5 little boys, I dread to
think what comments I'm gonna get now!!

congratulations on the new additions to your family! I have been getting
that GGMR or GMRS or what ever disorder it is for 6 months now. I'm up
to 10 ratties and I couldn't be happier. I wish everyone got this
disorder regularly, wouldn't be a much friendlier world. ha ha

I'm glad I've found a place where people understand how special rats are and
how hard they are to resist! Not many people I know in real life understand,
they think I'm mad.
The 2 new boys have got names now, they are Sooty and Sweep. They're getting
to trust me slowly, I know when they go in the big cage, they'll improve
even quicker because they'll copy the big boys. Its gonna be a while before
they can go in because they could easily escape through the bars at the
moment!!

Join the club! We decided to stop at 5 and now we have 7. For now me and my
husband are officially barring ourselves from pet shops for the next 2
years. Hope your new babies settle in well.
Regards,
Rosalind.

lol, I know exactly what you mean!! The babies have settled in really well.
I was gonna keep them separate for a couple of weeks, but yesterday all the
rats met and Sooty decided to climb in the big boys cage before i had a
chance to grab him! There was no fights, so i let Sweep join him and left
them all alone for a few hours, it didnt take long for the big boys to start
"mothering" the babies! Late last night, I caught 6 of them all squashed in
one tube! the only missing was my PEW whos got really bad eyesight and up
til this evening, stayed on the floor of the cage!
Already I can tell Sooty is gonna be trouble! He's so nosey and into
everything. Sweep is quite happy nestled at h back of my neck, stroking my
hair and licking my neck!!

I've just got back from the pet shop and I have a new little boy. He's the
brother of Sooty and Sweep and he was all alone in the tank. I couldnt leave
the shop knowing he was on his own and could be sold as a single rat. I'd
only gone in there for rat food cos tescos has stopped stocking it! The good
thing is that the pet shop are gonna order huge bags of rat food for me, the
bad thing is that i have to go and collect it and resist the rats each time
i go!!!
Why do rats have to be so cute and adorable and unresistable???

AAah, glad you decided to buy the remaining brother. Hope he settles in as
well as his brothers. We have the same problem, can't bear to see one left
all on it's own.

Rosalind

He's already in with the others, I couldnt bear the thought of him being
alone any longer, so I gave it a try and they've all been fine.I've been
very lucky with my boys, I've never had any problems with introductions.
He's a very cuddly rat. He's spent most of the day on me. Considering I've
had him less than 12 hours, he is so friendly and tame and trusting. I've
decided to name him Scamp. Seeing as his brothers are Sooty and Sweep, I
cant call him Su and Matthew doesnt suit him, so it had to be cousin Scamp!!

Bless - he sounds adorable. There's nothin like a lonely little rattie left
all by itself in a pet shop tank for pulling on the old heart strings...
You could have named him Harry (original Sooty and Sweep puppeteer and
Matthew's father)!
