Hi All,
Thought I'd pop in quick to show off the new babies that we got from Sue
today!! :o) They are called Bert & Ernie. Bert is a black-eyed Himalayan and
Ernie is an Agouti.
We have never had dumbo's before and they are adorable!! I've taken a couple
of pics of each but I'll be posting more as they settle. We were also very
impressed that all of our current boys welcomed them with open paws! We were
amazed how friendly and inquisitive they were straight away, and it was
obvious they had been handled so much and so well cared for!!
Thanks so much for being so welcoming today Sue, it was great to meet you
and your brood!! Give scritches to all your ratties and bunnies and a big
stroke for Floyd!!

Yaay! Glad you got home OK then... I almost spoilt the surprise by posting
you would be making a special announcement later... *grin*

Ooooh.... it was that easy??? Blimey!!!! See, didn't I say they had good
manners?? lolol... Guess I should thank their dad and his mates for that.

Floyd sends licks and trouserleg-nibbles (ooh err missus) and it was great
to meet you too!:)
After you had gone (of course), I thought of the perfect Y-names.... I name
my litters consecuively through the alphabet.... The X litter wasn't easy
though I have a young black Rex baby here called XXXX (Foureks, if you know
your Pratchett!!). I try to pick very unusual, unique or funny names, and
I'm constantly surprised how many people keep them.
It dawned on me..... an agouti Dumbo called Yoda...! definitely born with
wisdom beyond his weeks, that one, though I don't know how much trouble
he'll get into.... You will be looking for screwdrivers to flip his tummy
open and take his batteries out, he's just like his mum.
And then I thought of Yorick.... "Over 'ere son, on me 'ead!" (That will
only make sense to you if you ever saw a certain UK beer commercial!).
Hope the boys delight you for years and months to come... thanks for
adopting them. Give them a big squeeze from me.
Sue

I have posted their pics to my Webshots site below my signature but
unfortunately it is not showing up!! *sad face* I wanted to show them
off!!
It has let me update pics of my current boys, but not the babies! If
you click 'newest' it shows you that the site is updated, but still no
little ones! I am at work at the moment but shall try to correct it
later! :o)
Oh btw Sue ..... I decided to re-name the babies! I went for Yoda as
you suggested and Yogi for the Himalaylan! I was wracking my brains
all the way home for Y names!! Yoda is a cool name for my little
monkey!!

That's great, I absolutely adore dumbos and have never been able to get hold
of any myself.
It's good when you get to meet somebody from the newsgroup isn't it? I got
the two brothers I have at the moment from Jen who used to post on this
newsgroup regularly, she bought a female home only to find she was pregnant
and posted on here about needing homes for the babies - I was looking for
new ratties at the time (searched everywhere to try and find dumboes, but
couldn't) so rescued two of her female's boys instead. Jen's not been on
for a while though as she's busy with work and college, when she emails me
she always says to say hi to you all though!
Looking forward to the pics of your new additions!

I will keep that in mind for the future Sue! I think you are well over 200
miles away from us, so I would have to sweet talk my fiance quite a bit into
driving us there! My cousin lives in Portsmouth...hmmmm....wonder if she
would like a visitor or two since I've not seen her in so many years... ;oD

I don't know exactly where you live but I occasionally leave the tranquility
of Portsmouth to venture forth to rat shows elsewhere, such as Leeds.
And there is also a willing network of rat-peeps country-wide who are happy
to help with a travel network, getting desired rats to their desperate new
owners :)

I'm in North Derbyshire - Chesterfield, the town famous for the wonky church
spire! It's about ten miles south of Sheffield, so Leeds isn't too far
away!
I've told my fiance I won't be getting any more rats for a while, so that is
another problem to cross. I've had a bit of an expensive time with them of
late at the vets, which didn't please him too much as we are going through a
very lean period at the mo. Hopefully when the finances improve he'll
soften again and whoppee... more ratties! I'd definitely like dumboes next
time.
