Morning All,

I am finding myself in the same predicament as I have found myself in so
many situations with my past babies and I hate it everytime, and I'll never
get used to doing it.

I am going to have to make an appointment to help send Neptune on his way to
Rainbow Bridge :o( He has had an upper respiratory infection for awhile now
and he has been on Baytril, but this last week he has now been on steroids
and has full blown Myco. He is definately not enjoying life today, and the
injection he had on Friday has not perked him up, with previous ones making
him very active.

*sigh* It hurts me so much but I always do the best things for my babies but
it's pants eh??!!

I'm sorry.  It is such a hard thing to do & it never gets easier.  The thing
that I have clung to each time is the quality of life they have now, that it
is the best thing for them, and that they were loved and spoiled beyond
belief. I have had to help 2 of my rats and a parakeet I had for 8 years in
the last several months.  I just know they are so much happier.  My gang and
I will be thinking of you and your baby.  Janine

Very suprisingly, Neptune has perked up loads since yesterday! He is much
more active and eating hard food again! *bizarre!*

I am still giving him his baby food 'cos he loves it, but going to keep a
close eye on him! So pleased I cancelled that euthanasia appt, my poor baby
could be gone tonight and instead he seems very happy again!!

Phew!  Don't they put us through it!  So glad to hear he has perked up, they
can be such resilient little critters at times.  Hope he continues to
improve, positive and healing thoughts being sent his way.

Thanks Tracey,

I must confess I think it could be the calm before the storm :o( I can't kid
myself that he has full blown Myco, he sounds chesty and when all the others
are hyper, he is looking poorly again! *sigh* I'll keep a close eye, not
fair to leave him for too many days like this! Even if his last few days are
better quality, that is what counts eh?!

I'm going to have to make the same decision too...and soon!
I was thinking to myself today that why can't she just die? So I don't have
to make that decision. I know that sounds terrible, but I hate doing it.  I
keep waiting to see if she gets better.  Just the other day, she seemed to
perk up a bit. Today, she looks awful. She's skin and bones, blind, she
tries to groom herself, but not doing a great job anymore. Makes me cry.
Tania, I'll be thinking of you.........

Awww Sue - My thoughts are with you too. It is such a horrible decision.
Neps is perkier than yesterday, but we all know it won't always be that way.

<Big hug>  Bless her little heart.  I know how difficult it is to go through
this, knowing when to make that decision.  I'll be thinking of you.  Let us
know how things go.

Take care.

Poor little mite, but he is in good hands with you Tania.  Animals have this
sixth sense, that most of us humans seem to have lost, he will know, when
the time comes, that you will do the best by him, and if that means taking
him to the vets to help him on his way, he'll know it's the best thing and
slip away knowing how truly loved and cared for he was.

I'm sorry to hear that - you've made that decision before, so I won't
bore you with a lecture on "it's the best thing...". Just to say that I'm
glad you care for your ratties, even when it comes to the hardest part.
