Just cleaned out a disgusting hidden treasure stash that our darlings had!

There were old nuts, rotten chicken wings, curtain hooks, seeds, a dried up
and greenish tangerine, a chewed up tampon and a few chewed socks encrusted
with dried urine.

Oh the joys of it all!!

Indeed all rats have an inner "Pack Rat" that pushes
them to accumulate "Treasures". That's why my boys bet a
house cleaning EVER week. Cuts down on the mess...yeah right
I've a cage full of males. LOL...what haven't we marked
today gentlemen?

Now that is a bit more vexing. Free range is nice to a
point, that point being when you realize that you didn't
"rat proof" as well as you thought you did. I feel blessed
that I don't need to keep the cage closed or locked, EVER.
Muc&LUC will climb all over the cage and the table it sits
on...but except for the occasional slip never leave the
table.
With the new boys I'll have to keep the doors closed for
a week or three. That is until they learn to "stay home" the
bedroom is very rat proof when the closets are closed.

Yeah it's working out so far, we had one cable chewed through and several
items of clothing but they sit at the door and look pitiful if they are put
back in their house. It can get annoying in the night also when they bounce
up and down on your head to wake you up. Fortunately they are good girls
mostly.

Your stash story has made my day!!!!  I had one little darling that had a
stash of old bills, tossed receipts, envelopes, walnuts, saved treats, ball
with a bell in it, -in fact, yesterday I came home from work to find that
one of my boys pulled the bottom of a sheer window panel into his cage and
was cozily sleeping on it.  I don't know how he did it, but he did...
Thanks for the story -it made my day!!!!
