Ringo Changing color

I have a question that seems like no one can answer it. When I first
got my rat, Ringo, I thought he was a beige hooded rat! He had a beige
hood and some beige on his body just like any other hooded rat would
look like. I always wanted a beige rat so that's why I picked him out
when he was so little! Now he is all white with dark points so I know
he's a Himilayan...or is he? I guess it took 1 1/2-2 months for him to
completely change his color. Do all Himilayans start out like this? Or
is Ringo my little cuddly freak of nature?
No one has ever knew why he changed so maybe you guys know? I'd love to
hear what you think!
If you want to see pictures, go to www.freewebs.com/airison or see my
last post with the pictures. The pictures aren't very good. I have to
get a good picture of how beige he was when he was little. Those
pictures you can't see it very well. =(

He looks a lot like my Casey, and he's a Seal Point Siamese male.

I believe there are some (subtle) differences between Himalayans and Seal
Point Siamese rats (a blue ring around the eyes?). I'm sure someone else in
this newsgroup knows the ins and outs.

A Seal Point Siamese rat does develop his/her points after about six weeks.
My Casey also started out kind of beige, but is very light (almost white)
now.

Ringo sure looks cute! I'll show his pictures to Casey, to see if he
recognizes Ringo as a soulmate ... ;-)

Siamese have a cream colored coat with their nose/butt/ear markings and
Himis have a white coat with their nose/butt/ear markings.
They can be blue point or seal point.

Siamese and Himis are born looking like beige rats and some actually have
markings like hooded or berks. At 6 weeks of age they get their beautiful
himi or siamese coat.
