Thank you for the advice one and all but sadly I think my ISP may be
blocking me from using Newsgroups? I joined up with usenet but as soon as I
try to download groups I get the following error..:( Account:
nntp.news.usenetzone.com
Server: nntp.news.usenetzone.com
Protocol: NNTP
Port: 119
Secure(SSL): 0
Code: 800ccc0d
If no one can help I will try to look elsewhere on the Net and see if there
is a way around this..
Regards Kate

You can always go to a web based reader, like google (unless you have
something against them). I hated the previous version, but finally got
used to it. Then, they implemented the beta version, and while I didn't
like it for a while, after all of like two days, I saw that it was
vastly superior to the old version. You _can_ quote text and cut and
paste... some people have complained about the lack of this capability,
but they are mistaken (they are the type of people who don't like to
click enough buttons to learn how to use new software, I think).

I personally would still recommend trying http://news.individual.net,
if you haven't already, where the configuration instructions are
really well laid out. http://news.individual.net/config.html
I didn't see much in the way of a FAQ or support info on usenetzone
(which I think Phil was mainly recommending as another secondary
backup to something like news.individual.net, actually). From what
little I looked at on Google regarding your 800ccc0d error, it could
be related to improperly configuring usenetzone with Outlook (i.e.,
your server name, login name, and password settings), or it might be
due to your firewall settings or something else entirely.
