I haven't had rats in enough numbers to be sure.
BUT with dogs I've always been pretty accurate by
checking the feet.
Right now my two males are like night and day.
Astro is right where you'd expect a 4 month old
male to be size wise. approx 6" to 7"(not counting
tail) Whilst Eb is starting to worry me. He's a
week or so younger BUT body wise alone is as long
as the doors on their cage (Martin 695) and talk
about BIG! He's a butterball! The eat from the
same bowl, same mix...various cereals. No sugars
and the get 1 rat block a week. He is BIG all
around not fat in the middle, just all around fat.
I suspect he might have a busted gene or two. Eb
is a Dumbo/Rex after all...

Its funny, but this is the first time I've noticed something like this. Does
anybody know if this is possible?

My rat Arwen had an unusually long tail when I got her as a juvenile,
so much so that other people commented on it. She grew into it quickly.
She was very large for a female, the largest one I've ever had.
