i pre-meditatedly went to the petstore that has rats "to buy catfood".
oh dear god she had two litters of black and agouti high whites and
some berks and irishes. (and a litter of dumbo high whites with two
BEWs!! in the back room, eyes just barely open)
there was a black capped boy who looked JUST like my departed andrew.
i wanted him so bad but i don't have anywhere to put an intact male. i
bought (it's been a long time since i've actually bought a rat) an
agouti irish and a mismarked agouti capped with a headspot. top eared,
standard fur. EXACTLY what i've been looking for for ages.
i feel guilty for buying them (they were dumped but i still purchased
them) but i've been looking for agoutis for ages.
tulip and maizie i think.
happy easter babies :)

Easter Ratties!!!!!!! Yeah!! Congratulations. Yes, I too am a sufferer of
ggmr, and when I enter such places with lame excuses like "oh I just want to
look at the nice fishtanks" I know it's only a matter of time... Actually,
I honestly think that whatever ratties we get we are meant to have. So it
was your fate, not your fault!
Pictures???

i went there with the sort of intention of buying rats. i could have
gone somewhere else to buy catfood, you know? i didn't expect her to
have EXACTLY what i've been looking for. i was so excited i almost
died on the spot. hehehe.
i just posted pictures as a separate thread :)

I know - we went to our local Garden Centre for lunch and came back with Jet
(B&W hooded) and Bindi (buff-headed rather than hooded! With a little white
spot on her forehead - hence the name). The vanilla trick seemed to help in
introducing them to the other 7.
Just one question - what is regarded as a 'high white'? I've not heard that
term before.

Hi Marian!!
High white rats have lots of white to them, big blazes, lots of white spots
on the sides, capped rats or masked rats are high whites. Does Bindi have
her shoulders colored or just her head? If it's just her head, she would be
a capped and that would make her a high white.
High white rats, during their development stage, the coloring for some
reason stops and doesn't reach everywhere to make the rat a solid color or a
hooded color. This can also cause megacolon a fatal disorder in high white
rats. Not only does the coloring fail to develop all over, the colon also
has a problem during development.
CongRATS on your new babies!!! They sound beautiful.

three (of the six) in the BEW litter actually already had holds. i
don't know which three or whether it was the BEWs. i'll leave them,
though. there is a solitary naked dumbo female i'm tempted by, though.
i feel bad that she's living alone.

Rats are much better than chocolate eggs for Easter! I had a surprise
Easter gift of a baby rat last Easter from my fiance and his daughter, I was
chuffed to bits.

Well at least you are honest with yourself...LOL. I for one, use any
excuse under the sun to deny that what I am actually doing is Rat
Hunting...:)) How lovely to have Ratties for Easter... so much lower in
calories...:))
