Hi elegy... things looked like it was going good. We added Chlor palm to her
med list. She had another flushing by the vet but it looked like the
infection was spreading beyond her neck. Her left eye was no longer working.
It was covered by that third membrane and wasn't getting better even with
eye drops. Tooth abscess are just nasty and uncontrollable, it looked like
her whole left side of her face, jaw, neck was become thick with pus. Tanzie
left us early Saturday morning, 8 days before her 33 months birthday.
I hope things are way better with your little girl.

i'm very sorry things didn't turn out better. sleep well, sweet
tanzie. 33 months is a good long life!
the big scab came off quill's face today and the tooth that i thought
she lost several weeks ago came out with it. it must have been in her
mouth all this time, puncturing her cheek!! the hole the entire way
through made me think of tanzie.
she's still bright, alert, and active and when i put her back in her
cage this morning after that horror, she dove right into her babyfood
and ate the whole bowlful, so i still don't know what the right thing
to do is.
tooth abscesses are just the worst thing. i've had rats with a lot of
weird problems, but this one takes the cake!

The tooth finally coming out is good news. I would keep her on antibiotics.
She sounds like she's still in good spirits, she still loves her food,
that's good enough reason for living.
I hope she beats this!!

Well I can vouch for how horrible tooth abscesses are having suffered from a
few myself, and I really look after my teeth and visit the dentist regularly
:o(
I should think the tooth coming out will improve things no end for your
girl. I still think you are doing the right thing not going to the vets to
have her pts yet - if she was unwell enough to warrant that she wouldn't be
so active and show so much enthusiasm for food. I'm sure you'll know when
the time comes.
Scritches to little Quill.

I'm sorry to hear about your wee girl, Joanne. One thing is for sure, she
had a long and happy life with you and your family.
