With all the testing on rodents that they do, you would think they'd come up
with a way to make them live longer. It is just so hard getting attached
and then losing them so soon.
Tonight I lost my favorite mouse, and I know this is a rat group and I
apologize, but as it happened I reached in the cage to dole out the treats
and "Pahrump" didn't come. Then came that sick, sinking feeling when you
just KNOW something bad has happened, and then you find it has.
((((sigh)))))
I have only been through one rat death so far and that was sudden and
unexpected. Then two near-death experiences with Jacques who thankfully is
healthy today. I just look at my rats tonight and hug them and think "what
else can I do to keep you healthy???!!!!" I don't want to hear a ticking
clock every time I look at my ratties. One more rodent death and I'm going
to need therapy.

I'm so sorry Meghan... it's so hard losing these guys. I was telling my
sister the other day: man, I better get preferencial treatment when I get to
heaven for taking such hardship and suffering all these losses.
I can tell you one thing, my karma is definitely paid up.

Don't be silly - there's nothing to apologize for.

Smilies have their limitations. I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

I'm sorry for your loss, Meghan. I have a hunch no one minds if you post
about mice here. I've always thought they're rather cute, but thought
they'd be too quick for me to handle!

I lost both my babies within one week. I KNOW just how you feel. Now that a
few weeks have passed I can think back and say that I was so lucky to have
known them. I think the joy they give out weighs the grief they cause when
they depart.Give it time, youll start laughing again when you recall all the
funny and wonderful things they did. I have a ferret now and love her to
death but I think a few new rats are in my near future. They are addictive !
My sincere condolences to you Meghan.......
