It should actually be called the China rat! It didn't come from Norway

This wonderful web site led me to another wonderful web site:
http://www.ratlife.org
This site has clips from a film that explores the behavior
of lab rats who were released into an outdoor environment.
It shows that domesticated rats still retain most of the
instincts that wild rats have -- they know how to forage,
burrow for shelter, avoid predators, etc. But perhaps most
importantly, there are lots of wonderful scenes here of rats
doing ratty things.
