Well he does not like being handled!!!!
The little bugger took a big chunk out of my little finger and s**t does it
hurt and it still keep bleeding 3 hours after, but not knowing how he has
been treated before you can't blame him. He is now feeling his feet and has
found his territorial instincts, Bless Him!
In the end I got him in the cleaning cage with Dave's bike gloves and I have
never heard a rat squeal like that, it was horrible.

Jackie, that's terrible about the chunk out of your finger. It's never
happened to me (from the rats anyway) but I imagine it could be pretty
scary. It's so sad to hear that Wilf is so traumatized. Who knows what
he's been through before?! He's so lucky to have you to take care of him
(even if he doesn't know it!). I was just saying to my husband last night,
about 2 mice that I have who live in terror of humans, that it's really the
ultimate in selflessness to care for an animal that loathes the sight of
you. I'd say the same goes for you right now in this situation. How is
Wilf getting along with your other rats (or is he separate?)

Hi Meghan,
No he is separate from the rest, my other boys would traumatise him even
more they are big bullies with other rats and because he is not good on his
back legs I would rather not risk it as he is slow and couldn't defend
himself, he is half the size of my guys.
What I have noticed with Wilf is when you put food in his bowl he covers it
completely with whatever is at hand, if you look into his cage you would say
I don't feed him the bowl has disappeared under paper, bedding anything! My
lads don't do that so I think he must of been outside for a good while and
has got used to not having much to eat and what little he could find he
buries or covers up. Bless Him he is a lovely little chap but just a biter
but like I said who can blame him, I don't.

Ouch!! I sure do know how bad a rattie bite feels. I have two lovely
scars and sometimes it feels like the bite area still hurt.
How old is poor little Wilf? If extra handling and loving doesn't cut
it, it's time to cut off something else... if you know what I mean. ;)
Wilf, little buddy, you better be on your best behavior!!

Home is where your rat is... in my case, 19 of them.
