Within the past hour we just lost our Beloved Sadie. She was our oldest, yet she was just over a year old. We have now lost 3 rats in about 2 months. Our hearts are heavy and tired of this loss. Sadie had shown no signs of illness until the past week. She started with acting a bit out of sorts. As if not all cogs were clicking. She seemed fuzzled and a bit unsteady. Then within the past two days she showed signs of breathing difficulties. Nothing major, no gasping or wheezing, just labored. When we first got her as a young one, she and her sis both came with bad respiratory infections. Her sis died within a week, but Sadie rallied and did share a wonderful year with us. She now joins all your fur babies who have journeyed across the bridge. Love to all. Lynn "kitty" Oh Lynn, I'm so sorry for your loss of Sadie. Even knowing that they are sickly, it's still so hard to accept. It seems like it's something we just won't get over but in the end we do somehow... Than you to all my rat friends. You are the best. Oddly, Sadie's companion rat, Yoko, is acting really horrid. Since The passing, Yoko is now grumpy and trying to bite me. She is even treating her kids badly - biting and clawing and screaming at them (they are all grown). I do believe she is suffering some serious grief. I hope she recovers soon.
