My little mate Wilf, the one left on the doorstep is having a hard time of
it at the minute and he has two seizures in the last fortnight and another
yesterday. It can go on from 15 minutes to an hour before he is back with
me.  He has a struggle breathing and he is getting weaker on his legs now so
I think it maybe time for the Bridge. He is eating and drinking but it is
his quality of life I worry about.  His legs have never been good as they
were wonky when we had him and they permanently switch even when he is
asleep. He is an aggressive little so and so but you still love them don't
you. I will see what my Vet Helen has to say tomorrow when I take him in,
and I will let you know the outcome GOOD OR BAD!
Love to all your ratties.

Jackie,
Badger, Teddy, Berkley, Rebel, Texas, Jorja, Reggie and Wilf.

Oh no Jackie... I'll be thinking of you both tomorrow.
Wishing you good luck and good news and if not, strength. I know you'll
do the right thing by him.

Thanks Joanne, I would like to say it will be good news but you can usually
feel if it is the end. As we do not know how old he is it is difficult to
gauge how far to go before you say it is enough man-handling and stress for
him. He just hates being touched, let alone handling him so I will have to
take some gloves with me, .whatever was done to him before I had him, I
dread to think! how his little mind is working as soon as a hand appears.
Well at least he had a good couple of months with us warm, fed and watered.
Thanks Joanne

I'm sorry to hear Wilf is struggling, Jackie.  Please do let us know what
the vet says.

Aww - I am sorry to hear that Wilf isn't doing so well :-( My Fudge used to
have bad fits too, and like you it could take up to an hour of cuddling and
stroking him before he came back around, poor mite. You are a great mummy
and will always do what is best for your babies.

Thinking of you x

Well as I thought on Tuesday evening I went to get him out of the cage to
put him in the carry box (about 5.15pm) and he was fitting then and all the
way to the vets for the 6.30 appointment he had no idea where he was and was
letting me stroke him, I never dared do it any other time he would bite.
The vet checked him and his heart was no beating properly and his breathing
was shallow and laboured so we knew it was time, she popped him into a
plastic container hooked up to a pipe and he fell asleep peacefully and then
administered the injection in to the heart. And for the fist time he was
resting peacefully with no twitching  that he had before even when he was
asleep at home his little legs used to go ten to the dozen because of his
nerve damage to his back legs.
So all in all it was what I was expecting. We buried in the garden next to
all his brothers (all 6 of them) together under Fuschia and Patio Roses so
we know where they all are.

He's free now...
I just want to say how wonderful of you to never have given up on him,
with his bitey attitude, you still loved him till the end.

Thanks Joanne,
I have Berkley poorly now think it is Pneumonia, he is on meds but this
little chap is 2yrs 1 month old and as my Dave calls him "his wrinkly little
ninja" he is wrinkly and bald in most places and is having a cuddle at the
moment in my jumper. Again a very old chap and has Pneumonia before but he
was younger and stronger then. all I can say is I will try my hardest to
help him but that isn't always enough.

My thoughts are with you Jackie, and with Wilf who is probably very,
very grateful that you loved him despite all his problems..:)  I would
imagine that one day you will have an amazing reunion with a certain
Wilf Man ..:)  May the coming days bring you peace and lots of memories
of his quirky moments.

Kind regard
Kate

I'm so sorry Jackie, you did the very best you possibly could for little
Wilf - many people would have given up on him because he was a biter, but
you loved and cared for him until the end.

Sending well wishes to Berkley, I hope he can make a recovery again from the
bout of pneumonia he's suffering at the moment.
