My beautiful Jolie Bleu had to be pts on Wednesday due to myco.
She had been sick for a few months and had been on meds.
Last week, she was worse and started to panic when trying to catch her
breath. I knew it was time for her. It broke my heart because she along
with her sister were my first female rats. Males were always my favorite
but I wanted these two girls from a breeder in Barrie. Jolie and her
sister made me realize just how very special girl ratties were. It's
because of them that I now will always have girls as well as boys in my
cage. Having both sexes (altered of course) in my cage is so much fun.
The busy busy girls compliments the lazy lazy boys. ;)

Jolie Bleu was only 22 1/2 months old.
A post mortem revealed an abscessed lung and also the start of a small
pituitary tumor. Her only neurological symptom was running around in a
confused state and also putting her teeth on things like blocks,
fingers, wood but not clamping down, not biting... it's like she would
forget what to do after laying her teeth on the object. In the end she
could only eat soft foods...
I will truly miss my little girl.

I'm so sorry Joanne, losing two in such short space of time must be very
hard.  My thoughts are with you.

Again... my deepest sympathy.  It's hard to lose one of our beloved ratties,
but even more difficult after a long illness and nursing.  The candle
remains lit in the honor of  Jolie and Bebe.  They romp and play with new
friends at the Bridge.
