Hello everyone and am so sorry to hear about all the Babies who have past. I
try to post my condolences but for some reason they don't get posted. My
Question is it normal for female rats to want to be cuddled and petted. I
had females before but they usually just would do the grooming and nibbling
on you and that was the extent of the affections. Baby Girl wants to be out
of her house constantly not that this is a problem, but Ditto gets jealous
and wants to come out also. Ditto wants to play, but Baby girl just wants to
chill and be petted. She also reaches out with her arms to get my attention
to be out. I have both of them out most of the day with a attentive watch on
them. Baby Girl just seems lost in her house cage. She seems to want to be a
lap rat. Any suggestions would be helpful. Also baby Girl gets annoyed after
awhile with Ditto constantly wanting to play. They don't fight, but I can
tell baby Girl has had a enough after a time.
Thanks,
Flo

Hi Flo, I did get your condolences email to me. You may have clicked:

First, I have a couple of questions, how old are your girls and has Baby
Girl been like this all her life or is this a change in her wanting to
be on you and not move around?
I did have a girl, Jolie Bleu that loved to explore but then she would
always come and find me for some cuddles and to just lie on me. It's
such a wonderful feeling to have a female do this, cause we know that
females are always on the go.

I wish my females were huggers and snugglers *pouts* Personally I would
enjoy every minute of it but then again thats just me. I have a male
hairless that loves to snuggle in my hair, or snuggle into my arm pit, go
body warmth.

Baby Girl is about 5 or 6 months old. I think she was some one else's before
I got her. My daughter brought her home when my Mouse-Mouse passed away. I
think she got her from a pet store. Ditto is 3 months old and she is the
typical female except sometimes when I wear my robe and she loves to snuggle
and sleep. But when the 2 are out together Baby Girl gets annoyed after a
while with Ditto wanting to play. When Baby Girl first came she was kinda of
skittish but now she just wants out and is very docile. She reaches out
with her arms to get my attention and when I take her out she does her
nuzzles and then lays by my side. I pet and cuddle and play with Ditto to
give equal attention, but it seems Baby Girl just wants to be out all the
time. I don't mind I love it, I just don't want Ditto to feel not Loved.

Oh, that explains it... Ditto is much younger than Baby Girl and she's
still got that baby spunk in her. She will soon settle down and no
longer annoy Baby Girl.
Just count yourself lucky that you've got a girlie lap rat. :)
