Chester's lump

Hi,

Last week I noticed a "huge" lump on my rat Chester's left side. Thinking it
would probably be some sort of tumor which would require surgery (or worse),
I called the vet on Monday morning. I took Chester to the vet on Monday
evening, and after doing a biopsy she concluded it was a tumor. Surgery
would be required to remove it, and they could do it the next morning
already. So I returned Chester to the vet Tuesday morning at about 8:30 AM,
and about 13:15 PM I got a call that the operation had been successful. As
it turned out, the lump was "only" a lipoma. I was worried sick all weekend,
and I had a bad feeling when I took Chester to the vet Tuesday morning, so
you can imagine the relief when I heard he was alright. :-D

Looks as though he is doing great :-)
They heal so quickly , once his fur groes back you won't even see a scar :-)

I've had lumps removed from rats around half a dozen times with great
success.
I only lost one which was due to no fault of the vet,
Morph was a hybrid who didn't cope well with being handled or new
situations,
her op went fine but she couldn't cope with the stress afterwards :-(
it was a case of I knew I would lose her if she didn't get the op and had a
chance
of her pulling through with the op, I would make the same decision if faced
with that situation again.

Poor little guy. I've never seen bandage on top like that, that's a good
idea. I had a rat that had a lump come out the side like that. He was 23
months old, it was removed and all went well.

Thank you all for your support, both me and Chester appreciate it! :-)

Chester is still doing great. He is already climbing in and out of his cage
unto the table again. He clearly wants to return to the others in the big
cage and roam freely on the couch again, but he will have to wait a little
longer. His bandage has "somehow" shrinked to about half its original size,
but it's still holding, as are his stitches.

Chester yesterday evening, eating some cooked rice:
