kim's ark <http://www.kimsarkrescue.org> took on a massive rescue
operation this past weekend, pulling over 100 rats total from a
horrible, overcrowded, filthy home.

tons of cuties are up for adoption. pics are here:
<http://www.petfish.net/gallery/OperationDesperation>

if you're interested, information on how to apply to adopt is in the
adopt section on the rescue's homepage. they are very much in need of
forever homes as well as fosters.

(i'm getting three boys. i've no idea which ones. i can't wait!)

And now, each night I count the stars.
And each night I get the same number. (Amiri Baraka)

I read a post that Ratta Muffin rescue in New Jersey has 245 adoptable
rats available:
http://www.rattamuffinreskue.org/index.html
Yikes, 245 homeless rats in one rescue!  Even at the very worst, the
whole of Southern Ontario only had about 200 in all it's shelters and
rescues combined  Add to that the number that Kim's Ark has, and it is
overwhelming for one area to have so many.
It is a very sad situation right now.
