It has been a while since I posted. I suppose in a way that is good
news. I have 9 boys left and we have had some quiet time at last. I
know it won't be long before we are back into doing the Vet treks again.
I have one boy with bumble foot and the Copper Sulphate just doesn't
work. I am trying to make their home as comfortable under foot as
possible. Edward ( Face of an angel, heart of darkness) is still boxing
on..LOL He is really a character and although he drives me up the wall
with his dominant behavior I do have a soft spot for him. He is a wreck
of a rat but oh so adorable. A couple of my boys are aging as they are
nearing the 18 month stage and I can't help feeling sad that they are
getting old. As a treat yesterday I put a whole peach in their house.
It was hilarious to see Harry up and off with it straight to the toilet
*ACK* grubby wee buggers that they are. Why do they insist on taking
their bestest, stickiest, wettest food to the bathroom? Food hygiene
just isn't a priority for them it seems. Oh well thats all from here.
Best wishes to all the fuzzy butts out there and their owner/slaves.
Regards Kate.

Hello there! Lol, they do seem to simply *have to* take their food into the
toilet to eat - I cringe everytime I see it drop amongst the litter and them
scoop it right back up to happily finish it off!
Sorry to hear about your boy with bumble foot, it's something I've never
experienced with my rats but I've seen pictures of it and it looks painful
for poor wee ratties.
Scritches to all your gang :o)

Hi Kate, good to see you again!!
For bumblefoot, NovoTrimel/Septra/Batrim works wonders on my guys.
Rats will go off into the toilet to eat because the odor will deter the
others from finding the good food. ;) Although quite disgusting, they
are being smart little fellers.

Yes, you'll need to get it from the vet. It's one drug called many
things. In Canada, it's called NovoTrimel or Septra. So if you are
asking for it, chances are your vet will recognize one of those names.
But it's the same drug. ;)

I thought mine were the only dirty little critters that think the food
tastes oh so much better covered in pooh and wee. Must be a ratty thing!!
