My girls' cage

Just thought I'd mention really quickly what cage my girls are currently
residing in.

It's a Savic "Ruffy 2" cage
(http://www.savic.be/DetAnimal.asp?group=Small%20Animal&fam=Other%20cages&product
=Ruffy%202
).
Mind you, mine isn't exactly like the photo shown on the website -
instead of coming with that plastic tube you see, it came with a nice
big wire platform that sits on top of the base and spans half the length
of the cage.

I'd say at $135CDN, it's a pretty slick deal.

By the numbers, it's only big enough for 2 ratties.

My 5 girls will only be comfortable in it for so long, so I'm hoping to
move them into a Martin's cage this summer. Still, I'd definitely
recommend this cage to other ratters and I'll probably be selling it
when I move my girls into something bigger.

I'm glad you're already thinking of moving your girls into something bigger,
because I wouldn't recommend this cage even for only two rats. The problem
is that it's simply not high enough, and rats love to climb. For five girls
the cage should be at least about 80 x 50 x 80 cm.

I hope you will be able to find your girls a big(ger) Martin cage, I'm sure
they will appreciate it. :-)

You'll see your ratties come alive in a Martin's cage with all that
climbing and all those shelves.
That cage may come in handy when you have a couple of really old rats
that no longer want to climb and need to be kept in a single level home.
