I cannot believe how most men can be so bloody cruel!
I work in a distribution centre we employ 72 men in there.
I have quite a few of the lads that bring me baby Pigeons or Doves that have
fell out of the nest on the floor in the Warehouse, but on Friday one of the
men brought me a baby Dove that was absolutely petrified and he then
informed me that he had just taken it off of two braindeads that had decided
that it would be a good football (BASTARDS). The poor little sod couldn't
fly so could not get away, he nearly got into a fight. He whisked it up off
the floor and stuck it in his jacket and gave it to me.
I Cried!! It had pooed itself because it was so frightened and it kept
putting its wings up, he said it was doing that when they were kicking it, I
suppose to shield its face.
I was so f******g angry I flipped.
I had the Site manager and the Human Resources Manager in the office and
told them in no uncertain terms I would not tolerate this brainless
behaviour. And I then put in a Official Complaint that will have to be
investigated.
I have named the two involved and they are now on a written warnings.

Why oh Why do people have to be so cruel? What was the reasoning behind it?
How could someone do that to defenceless baby?
The baby is doing well at a rescue centre in Northampton and he is feeding
well and is on medication for all the bruising on it's chest from the
kicking.

If only I could win the Lottery and set up an animal rescue centre.

I'm sorry it is nothing to do with our little Ratties but it is just not
right and I wanted to let off steam and you guys I know will listen.

I think that the best thing that you could have done, except for
getting the bird to the rescue centre of course, was to bring the
incident to the attention of the people you did.  Many times people
don't want to 'rock the boat' with their coworkers, and so they decide
not to escalate these instances to the correct management.
I personally, would go one step further, however.  I would contact the
rescue centre or the SPCA and make them aware that your management has
been made aware of this situation and that you have filed a formal
complaint.  It would be nice if the bastards got fined for animal
cruelty on top of everything else.
I mean really, we have to put up with an expected amount of stress and
unpleasantness in our work environments sometimes, but how dare those
idiots feel that they can get away with pulling that sort of thing.

That is bloody disgusting, animal cruelty really makes my blood boil.
There was a similar thing on the news recently where a few Bernard Mathew's
employees were playing football with live turkeys - it was secretly filmed
and it made me sick to the stomach to see.  I would do exactly the same to
them and a bit more.  However people can be so cruel is beyond me.  I
understand how upsetting it must have been and good for you for putting in a
complaint - those heartless b*st**ds deserve everything they get, which
unfortunately probably won't be much - hopefully law of karma will sort em
out.

The actions of some people do make you wonder how a human being can be
so devoid of any compassion, and sepair of humanity. And then the
actions of people like you make you thankful there are people who are
brave anough to stand up against the first kind.

Bloody good on you. I hope the dove makes it

I agree that what these people did was disgusting. However I'm not sure that
"most men" would commit an act like this. Most men, in my experience,
wouldn't be so cruel. And there are cruel women too. Aside from this point,
I would like to say that I applaud you for taking this incident up with your
employers - not only the right thing to do but also a brave one, seeing as
these particular guys seem not to care about suffering inflicted upon
others, bird or human.

I hope the dove does well at the shelter.

No not all men are like that my husband for one. If you saw him with the
boys, they run all over him they clean his mostash and pull all the hairs on
his chest it is a sight to see. He was speachless that it could happen.
Thank you the little dove is doing well and feeding so it makes me feel like
I have done some good. And let me tell you the fight will go on at work!
One of the men gave me a really I Hate YOU look. But I can look after myself
and people like him don't worry me in the slightest. The fight for animal
rights is strong in our house and it will keep getting stronger as my
children have been taught the proper treatment of animals and that whether
they are what most people call flying rats or any other critter needs a
helping hand I will be there.
Thanks for all your comments.

Sadly we are sometimes put in these horrid situations because we may be
the only ones able to help.  As to why God even puts breath into
arseholes who do this I will never know.  I often think maybe they have
something fundamentally  missing in their psyches?  Imagine being
married to someone who has that perpensity for cruelty, I would question
their ability to love etc. . . .  Now you have me going....

Good for you Jackie,  all going well there will be a happy ending for
the wee bird.

God Bless
Kate

Just an update on the Baby Dove! He is now strong and fighting fit and will
be ready to fly the nest at any pint this week. He is being released with
about 6 others all in the park near by to the Rescue Centre.
Thank you for all your kinds words, but if people like us didn't do what we
do what would the world be like?

As for Marrying one! no thanks. I always said to my mum that I would not
marry a Football Fanatic, a Butcher or anything to do with Abbotiores or Any
Hunty Type and luckily I got one that doesn't like Football and hates
anything to do with Hunting of any kind and has never been in the business
of slaughtering, So I am happy with that.
As you may of guessed I am a Vegetarian and proud of it!!!!

That's great news!

I'm the same could never be involved with a man into anything to do with the
meat trade, and I deplore hunting.  I keep getting onto my dad for going
fishing.  My fiance does, however, love football, and rugby (ack!), but you
can't have everything!

I hope the 'most' isn't correct.

As to being cruel, it has its advantages. A cruel person might have
'spoken' to those two guys after work with a baseball bat, which to be
honest they'd probably understand more than a warning. Not that I'd
recommend doing this, obviously.

I did ask them whether they would like to see if they could kick me about
the same, but for some unknown reason they declined the offer.
I have been working at my present job for 6 years and all of them do know me
very well and my views on animal cruelty and that I am not the sort of
person to upset. Chris the man who brought the Dove to me, did enlighten the
Braindead few that they do not want to make me angry.

I go green bit like the Hulk!!!!
