If you have the room and amenitites to get 2 then I would as you are quite right with the logic of it..:) I often wonder what I will do when we get down to 1.... I don't mean to sound pessimistic but I really doubt that your other rat will live a whole year longer. Typical life span is about 2-2½ years.
