Hi All,
Well with 2 rounds of baytril in Texas she is quite a bit better but still
looking a bit old and haggard. She definately likes the Cranberry Juice and
the bleeding has subsided quite a bit. I think she is feeling better as she
is now cleaning herself and has just had some scrambled egg and peas.
Can you please make any suggestions as to what I can give her to boost to
her up a bit. Preferable something soft as they are both geriactric and like
soft food they have great difficulty in the hard dried Ratty food.

Hi Jackie,
Have you tried baby food? We use stuff here called Farex and its a
babies first introduction to solids. It is in powder form and I just
add either water or Soya milk and sometimes a mix of water and low fat
milk. The Ratties love it. You can make it as thick as you like by
varying the amount of liquids you add. There must be somthinkg similiar
where you live. It is just an infant cereal after all...:) Best of luck.
Regards Kate

Avocado pear is always a winner with ratties, is healthy and comes loaded
with calories, likewise with banana. What about mashed cooked veggies (eg
potato, sweet potato, swede) with some cream cheese (like Philadelphia)
mixed in. Porridge is good, my old guy Max always walloped his down, and
it's so good for them. There are also the nutritional supplements you could
try like Ensure, Nutrical or Complan.
Glad she's doing better, I hope she continues to do well.

Oh that's such great news!!
I give my rats pablum (baby cereal) with a wee bit of olive oil mixed in
it. The added "good" fat helps the metabolism get into gear and stop
feeding off of the muscle mass.
