Hi Guys,

I have subscribed to the Vet group and have made a reply.  I know it
won't be long before that wacko Puppy loser posts a mouthful of drivel.
Can someone tell me how what and how to killfile him?  Any help
greatly appreciated..:)

On a lighter note, Maxs would is looking really good so I think today we
will open up the Rat house for them all to mix together. Patrick is
going bonkers downstairs trying to get up to the others...LOL  He is too
big now to squeeze past the level..:))

I'm not sure what email/newsreader you use, but for Outlook Express you
click on the "Message" button up at the top of your screen, which should
give you a drop down menu.  From that menu select "Block Sender" and follow
the steps from there.  You should be able to erase all posts from the
unwanted party.  Sadly I have to do it more and more.  Usenet is a haven for
loonies!

Good luck!

The only issue I have with Blocking someone is you don't see their posts
but you do see replies and, assuming you read them, see what the OP has
written.
Sometimes it's better to use message rules etc to block by subject.
Another group I'm on is constantly spammed with messages about the various
political situations in Africa.  At first I blocked the poster but I still
got the replies.  Now I wait until he has posted and block by subject
line.  Unfortunately this method is a little more work.

Make a rule to block the person and any follow-ups to that person. If
you do it by message headers, too, you'll almost certainly never see
them again.

That makes perfect sense, however I've just looked at the options
available in Thunderbird & rather pathetically it only lets one filter
on Subject, From or Date, not References afaics (checking both
Message->Create Filter From Message & Tools->Message Filters).

...Actually, there is an ignore thread Action, which perhaps in response
to a suitable From match will do the job. I've not experimented so I
can't say either way.

I only use Thunderbird for mail, preferring to use a dedicated client
for news.

Anyway, there must be a rule option in TB? I mean there just /must/ be.

I've just had a quick gander at the Mozillazine and came up with this:

&highlight=&sid=a03d2a778cb826d33483123c0d3b5a42
I don't know if it helps because, like I say, I only use TB for mail.

Thanks for that ..:)  I have blocked him as best I can and if it fails I
will have to look at a standalone newsreader if there are any available
free.

Not to mention those who think that derrogatory terms for groups like the
mentally ill are suitable fodder to use in such a context.
