I work at night at a Wal-Mart-like store... I was moving a pallet in the
warehouse area in back and a rat hopped off and ran for cover.

Odd looking one, too. Seemed to be black with brown limbs. Like a sort
of German Shepherd of a rat...

A rat the size of a German Shepherd? No problem - just avoid the teeth.

No, but certainly plump.

It's never been any surprise to us employees when we find holes in rice
bags...

Ever heard of "old brown java" coffee? I used to buy beans from a local
coffee shop years back, since it's useful in various blends (mellow but
rich without much bitterness). Anyway, struck up a conversation with the
coffee shop owner (they bought beans in green and roasted them on the
premises): OBJ beans are matured for about 5-10 years on a warehouse
floor, and he had often had to pick out rat droppings and pieces of mouse
skull etc... from the beans before roasting them. No wonder the coffee
has such a rounded flavour!

Must be easier to spot those sorts of things in a bag of rice.
