Hi Everyone.
I have a concern... I posted a while back about my rats, Kuzia (now
about 5 months old) and Chammie (now about 3 months old). I'm now
concerned about the gender of Chammie. When I have my play time with
them, Chammie is always chasing Kuzia, grabbing her back, mounting her
and then "going at it." Then she stops and licks herself down there.
This goes off and on throughout their play time and Kuzia can never
just play because Chammie is always after her. I swear they both look
identical down there and Chammie has NO testicles, so is this normal
behavior for a female or is Chammie a male with no visible testicles at
3 months old?? Then, if Chammie is a male and Kuzia is/gets pregnant,
what do I do with the pups? Will pet stores take them from me? I'm
pushing my luck already having my two ratties in my apartment. My
landlords would die if they knew.
Any help you can give me is much appreciated!
Thank You!
Imoen

Yep, cushions on rats are very large - extremely large, actually. Pretty
sure they would be obvious at that age. Girl-on-girl action is nothing
unusual with rats - often a domination thing. Go back to your petshop,
and ask to look at some young male rats - you won't be able to miss the
difference!

Thanks Dave.
I was going to mention that because the males I've seen are almost
grotesquely huge, Ha Ha. So you say it's normal for females to play
specifically like THAT?! LOL!!
Thanks again,

I've got to agree with Dave and should one of them be a boy then it SHOULD
be pretty obvious by now, Waffle is only about 2 months old and he clearly
is a boy LOL, it's pretty normal behavior and yes I think it probably is
domination, a differnet species but I had two female rabbits, were
definitely females and they did excactly the same. I don't think you'll be a
ratty grandma.

Thank you, thank you! You guys set my mind at ease, although I knew it
just couldn't be true. I'm not ready to be a ratty grandma just yet!
LOL!

I had a hermaphadite rat, named Uno. She/He had boy testicles but had
girl insides as the vet had told me. Shortly after she went to go live
with my sister and her two ratberts (uno's sisters)... one of them got
pregnant. Uno did indeed have male parts and female parts. It was
bizarre.
Just wanted to tell ya, not trying to scare you.

Hi, For this I came out of lurking. Who got who preggers? Sounds like
Uno was a Duo. could it get preg, and make someone preg? Both, or just
one way? this is strange. Not trying to hassle, Sometimes I come off
as a bit strange, don't mean to. :-} really i'm a very nice person,
just shy. And curious about interesting things.
