About a month after Riley died, I was browsing a pet store, looking to
purchase some treats for my other rats when I spotted a little white
rat sleeping in a cage.  I know most people have reservations about
getting rats from pet stores but seeing as how a) my boyfriend and I
had just rescued the last 3 rats from the local shelter two weeks prior
and b) there are no breeders where I live ...

I just had to get her.  It was love at first sight!  She has been an
utmost joy to have.  She took to being around people right away!  Her
favorite spot is lying across the back of your neck (it's very nice to
keep your neck warm this way in the cold cold Canadian winters haha!)

Here's a video of her playing with me

We had her with the others but she was so much smaller at the time and
the other were picking on her quite a bit (one of our other
females,Tilt, is very Alpha) so we separated her cause you could see
where tufts of fur were missing (mind you, we've seen her initiate some
of the fights against the heavier rats...what a scrapper!).  We're
pretty lucky in that somebody is home/around most of the day so she's
not alone much at all (if anything, she's the most spoiled of our rats
cause she's ALWAYS out of the cage).  The goal is, now that she's
bigger, to introduce her to the others (even if it's just with Savvy,
who is the smallest of the other rats) and hopefully get her in with
some rattie friends.

What a sweetie. She's very spritely.
I was also thinking that she needs some rat buddies. Hopefully she will
integrate well with the others. Could you adopt another young friend
for her to live with?

Dewi.

so cute! and, you gave her a great home.  i would never refuse a rat
because of where it came from.  then again, i was adopted when i was 5
years old so i probably can't turn my back on any living creature no
matter what sort of past or origin it has had, because i know what it's
like.

Awwww, bless her heart, she's lovely!  I love to see them when they do that
little run and excited jumping!
