I am looking for sources for a larger rat cage.  At the moment girls
have a 45gal tank but the boys only a 25  and even with free play time
I know this is MUCH too small.  I would dearly like to get larger cages
for all but the boys definately need it so they are the priority.  Used
homemade wire cages 20 years ago, nothing elaborate, but don't have the
time to build anything right now, perhaps in the spring.  Was hoping
someone could give me some relatively inexpensive ideas to house these
brats,  We heat with wood when the weather requires it so that might be
something I have to keep in mind.  So fire away.

I believe many people in Canada and the US swear by Martin's Cages - I
don't really have that option being in England and to match what my lads
currently have (a 58" x 34" x 17" Shak http://www.shakhouse.com with
another cage section underneath for storage) I'd need something akin to
a Ruud (R-699).

Anyway the URL is http://www.martinscages.com/  I think you are best
getting a powder coated cage.

Will definitely keep you in mind. Sometimes it comes up on Sudbury
Kijiji or Bargain Hunter online.

i'm a slave to the local classifieds... :)

O.T.
i'm also looking for 3 guinea pig-sized cages for my Aunt, too.
her guinea pigs are making a move out of town in the new year.
she will pay cash, so if anyone has any old ones kicking around, give
me a holler.

thanks :)

Gravenhurst, so how north you consider that depends on how south you
live : ) ...only 2 of each at the moment and as they are not
spayed/neutered they live separately.  Used to breed 15-20 years ago
think I supplied all the local schools with rats for house & class  : )
Haven't had ratties in about 10-15 years   .  getting old so years all
blend in to each other  Figure as far as cages go the bigger I can
afford to get the better as I am pretty sure we are not going to be
staying at 4  Priced some of the larger bird cages at the local
petsmart and was shocked by the prices, as I said I've always created
my own  & I knew inflation would have affected prices, but still ...was
hoping to find something between $60-$100 that would suit my needs but
the cheapest I could find in a size I wanted was $120.  Ah well may
have to try to cobble together something on my own..find that there are
not many cages the size I want for sale where I can get to them.  Where
are you located?

I'm in Sudbury, more north than you. ;)
I was going to suggest keep an eye on Kijiji and local classifieds. You
can find some really good deals that way. If I find anything, I'll let
you know.
