Just a quick hello to you all. I've been 'lurking' every now and then
and decided to just join in! LOL  I am a new mum to two baby girl rats
and I must say that you've all been really helpful in my need for info
BEFORE adopting the girls. Thank you all...and the videos...HILARIOUS!
LOL  Keep them coming.
A happy new year to you all...and a hope that you'll make many happy
memories with these fur babies in 2007!

The links work. The babies are sooo precious!!!
The fact that they are so young, it will take time for them to be litter
trained but keep at it. Starting them young is good.
Also, may I suggest getting them out of that tank. If you can find a
good decent size wire cage, your girls will be much healthier for it.
Rattie urine breaks down into ammonia and this will cause myco in your
girls that's why we always stress wire cages for good air flow/ventilation.
Keep updating your webshots, those girls are to die for!!!

Hello Joanne,
Thanks for checking out the fur babes...I was just showing it (the
webshots site...thanks for leading me to it!)  to my hubby and
youngest. LOL We all love love love our furries! LOL  I do plan on
getting the girls out of the tank. That was just til they grew a
bit...we're going to make a 'grotto' style room for them. We've got a
book shelf that they'll have three 'floors' and we got the idea from
here. Let me know if you've not seen it. I like the idea of a peice of
furniture in the living room instead of a cage. Although...whenever my
17yo 'threatens' to move out...I tell her as soon as she goes I'm
turning her room into a rat romper room! LOL Is that a bad thing? LOL
Well...for now they are in a tank, but as soon as the girls go back to
school we'll set up the 'castle'...so they can be with us in the living
area all the time. My dh and I are disabled and so we're with these
furries all day every day. (except my once a week volunteer job) So
they get lots of playtime...I thought rats were mostly nocturnal...not
these girls. LOL They are young pups ready to play all the time. LOL
Well...this is a bit longer than I meant. Sorry. Don't mean to hog your
time...its just fun to talk rattie! LOL  Hope you have a lovely new
year's eve. I'll be home with all my kiddos...happy happy and healthy
2007!

Hi Jackie!
Yes...Jack is my angel. He is a red, stand., doxy...we got him when a
breeder went out of business...he was a stud there...not a family
'pet'. So we got him at 5yo and he doesn't know how to play. Poor babe.
He's had one medical prob after another. But he is my baby love. He's
12yo now...and just suffered a stroke on xmas eve. Now I am treating
him for that and an inner ear infection. Don't know what I'd do w/o my
furries. LOL  Thanks for the hello and the nice words. Have a great New
Year's eve!!

PS Are all those names...all ratties? LOL  Ahh...when I 'grow up' I
want to have that many furries! LOL
You know...its never too late to have a great childhood! LOL

Hi and welcome!
I've got 9 rats and have had rats now for a little over 2 years.  I
still have so much to learn about their health, but I am getting there.

Like the name of your ratties.

Hi whisper

Welcome to the group. It is a great group, perhaps somestimes a little quiet
but with more people joining then perhaps one day it will be bursting with
activity. I am mum to 6 boys, Mr Chips and black and white hooded, Mr
Tiddles a champaign I think, Coco a chocolate coloured rat with funny fur
which looks like he's been playing in the tumble dryer, Ziggy he is like
apricot colour but very light and he's coco's significant other, Waffles an
agounti male and i've had him since he was 8 weeks old and Mr Billy Bear a
white male who hates company of other rats so lives on his own and he's very
happy with that arrangement. He is also nippy with humans but is coming on a
little bit.

Well welcome again.

Hello April,
Awww...can we see the boys? I just love looking at all these
ratties...esp when they all really really look healthy and happy! Puts
a smile on my face every time!  Thanks for sharing. I am friends with a
couple of girls who manage a local pet shop. They are wonderful and
really helped me when I was researching to get the girls. One of them,
Sam, she and her asst. mgr, Jess, take in rats for the humane society.
Sam enjoys the females so she fosters alot of mommy rats with all their
baby ratlets. While Jess fosters all the boys since they are her fave.
I've heard alot of good from both sides...guess I just fell in love
with Piper's sweet face and wanted to take whoever her 'cage companion'
was...which luckily was Willow. She is a real kick...we are enjoying
our new babes. Thanks again for sharing....have a happy new year!
