I need some Tylan to treat mycoplasma in rats, this stuff should be
non-prescription but I called and visited several vets and they all want to
"see the animals" first. Can't blame them to try to make money but I know
what I'm dealing with.. I just found some on eBay, and I see Amazon.com also
sell it, I guess around $40 for 100g is fair, any other ideas?

Tylan doesn't work for myco. You need Baytril or Zithromax.

I read it works from several sources, including rcma...

If it's really really mild then it may help... but I certainly wouldn't
treat with Tylan, just the fact that you don't need a prescription means
it's not really potent enough.

I swear by Zithromax and if its a cost concern for you... maybe you
know someone who has small children or you have small children
yourself but you can get a trial sample of zithromax from their
pediatrician or General Practitioner.

cheers,
