I've been trying to type this for hours, I just can't believe my
BrokenRat has passed on.
He was fine at 22:00 last night stuffing himself with Chinese Style
Spare Ribs. He was eating his beloved Squirty Cream like there was no
tomorrow at about 02:00.
At 06:15 I found him gone.
Since he had the problem with his right leg and the diagnosis that it
might be bone cancer every day has been a bonus especially once he
passed the 24 month mark.
I've got up in the morning and expected him to have passed but he's been
there begging for cashews - never just one, he claimed Senior rights for
2 or 3.
I've come in at night and he's hauled himself to the cage door, because
both back legs had conked out, as if to say 'Look Mami, I'm still here!
What's for tea?".
Last week he seemed a bit needy and we cuddled. I got groomed and BR
got extra cashews.
He was very caring to Dipperty after his op, lying on top of him
yesterday to keep him warm.
He always stood up for the underdogs and he loved newbies. He was the
only one who was friendly to Elian and he was the first to say hello to
my latest babies.
He never picked on other rats, he was happy to be one of many, he didn't
have to be the top rat.
He appreciated the cavies who were treated as his personal mobile
duvets.
He was very intellegent, you could look into his eyes and tell his brain
was working. When he arrived he was the first to discover the Wodent
Wheel and when the Crew went into their new cage he was the first to get
to the top.
He loved curling up in a cardboard box for a snooze then would spend
hours ripping the box to pieces to make a comfy nest for his next
snooze.
The last "Idiot Child of Monkey Boy" has gone to join his siblings.
Bye bye BR, I'll never forget you.

Kind thoughts are sent to you Jackie. Words just don't seem to do it
anymore ..:( I know BrokenRat will now be one happy camper racing around
enjoying his long lost youth. May the fun memories bring you comfort in the
coming days.
Kind regards Kate

Jackie I so sorry to hear about BrokenRat. What a sweet little guy.
He's now scampering with all our other rats who have made the journey.
Hugs,
Dewi.

I just wanted to say Thank You to everyone for your kind words on the
passing of BrokenRat.
I still can't believe he has gone. I was looking for him this morning
with three cashews (Senior rights) in my hand. I gave them to Tidge to
stash :-/

We've had lots of rats, and we've loved them all. But every once in a while
there is that special little guy or gal who sets himself apart from the rest
and stays in our memories forever. It sounds like BrokenRat is one of
those. I'm sure you will always cherish the time he spent with you.
