I love watching rats in the wild too - people think you are nuts, especially

They find dead wild rats regularly in our highly respected university! I
even found a living one in my apartment here once, he was cute but I'm glad
it's gone! I dont want wild ones interfering with my pets!

most wild rats are the same breed as the pet ones : rattus norvegicus
there is one other more rare type. i think people call them roof rats.
