Hi All,

Sadly, one of my pet rats passed on yesterday. She had a happy life
but had been ill for a while, so it was not too supprising. She lived
with a companion (both around 18 months old) who is now on her own.
I'm not sure what to do, as the remaining rat (Eddie) loved Charles
company; would it be best to get a new rat or rats? If so, how should
they be introduced etc?
Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

I'm so very sorry for your loss.
If Eddie is in good health, I would introduce two new young rats to her.
When a bonded rat loses their companion, it can be very hard on them.
A pair of young rats or babies can sometimes rejuvenate the older one.

I'm sorry you lost one of your girls.

Here are a few web pages with useful info on introducing rats:

Please let us know how you get on!

When Yuki and Winston lost Junior is was as if a pall had been cast on their
home. They showed such depression. I introduced the new boys to them within
the week and they perked up immensely. They still share separate cages, till
the pups grow a bit more. But it was the best things for my fellows. All the
kids are happy now.

I send you my regards for your loss and wish you for nothing but the best.

HUGS,
Lynn
