Last week I received and email from an SPCA volunteer. She knows I
rescue rats and she always lets me know when they have some in which is
not very often. Well, a few came in. Someone in my city decided it was a
good idea to dump some rats in the park. My mom was able to take in 4
girls that were found running around loose and I took in a little girl
that was found in a box with her four brothers in yet another park.
This little girl is the spitting image of my heart rat Ness. She passed
a while ago from a huge tumour that had invaded her omentum and
pancreas. She had to be put to sleep, so when I saw this little one, I
just had to take her in. She's a black dumbo and about 8 weeks old. She
was on pregnancy watch but then she went into heat. I was soooo happy.
Then, the next day, we get a call and someone has to rehome their two
little girls. The kids are "bored" with them. So since my Nessie was
alone, I took in the two girls so Nessie can have friends. The new girls
are renamed Candé and Sophie. I certainly didn't like their original
names: spongebob and Archie. Besides these girls are not really social
and didn't know their names. They are sweet but shy and unsure of human
interactions, which is sad because they are so young (6 months )at this
age, they should be running around without a care in the world. They are
so annoyed by little Nessie, she bulldozes right over them and Sophie
screams bloody murder. lol
Anyway... I've uploaded their pics so enjoy!

What... how can you not like the name Spongebob? ;)
Well I'm very glad that you and your mother could help out with these
rats. Were they trapped in a box or cage, or actually released. At
least the former carers of Candé and Sophie were decent enough to hand
over the rats to the SPCA rather than dump them somewhere. Although
not ideal, it's definitely more responsible and humane and is much
better than keeping them whilst neglecting them.
Your three girls look lovely BTW. It must be nice to have a new rat
who reminds you of Ness. Does she have a similar temperament?

Actually, the owners of Candé and Sophie called us directly, they didn't
go through the SPCA... not the type of people to do that if you know
what I mean. It was us or else. :(
Nessie has a baby rat temperament right now... but I suspect I do see
some Ness in her. She's very social!

Awww, your newbies are simply adorable - quite unbelievable that they were
unwanted. They are certainly lucky ratties being rescued by you and your
mom :o) I'm sure once Candé and Sophie settle in they will come out of
their shells.

They already show great interest in me... their rex fur makes them so
soft. Too bad they don't sit still long enough for me to fall asleep
with them in my neck. lol

Isn't that funny how that goes? I do that all the time too. As soon as I
see rattie pics, I go off and cuddle my own. :)
