Update on Java

I had posted a couple of weeks ago about Java having an ear infection
and ab abcess on her side.

After a visit to the vet and some antibiotics, she was looking great.
For about two days. Then she came down with a nasty respiratory
infection which I swore was going to kill her. She was gasping for
breath. And with the infections she had lost a lot of weight.

After another trip to the vet and even more antibiotics, she has pulled
through and is now looking great again. Well, almost.

With all the time that she has been sick and being force-fed or given
soft food, it seems she has let one of her incisors grow too long. I
noticed this when despite having gotten her energy back, she seemed to
not be eating much hard food. Fortunately, we have a regular follow-up
appointment with the vet this Saturday, and there’s plenty of soft food
around the house to keep her well fed and keep her energy levels up.

It’s actually kind of funny how much I’ve had to take care of her
lately, considering she was the one who accidentally got left behind
when the rest of the litter was adopted. :)

She’s an oddball, but I guess that’s why I love her.

How wonderful that your sweetie pulled through- especially with all
the sadness of friends passing here.

I had a bunny years ago who needed her incisors *clipped* every so
often. I could never bring myself to do it, so I paid a rabbit breeder
$10 to cut them everytime instead. The noise went right through me!!

Give Java a kiss on the belly for me- I miss me girlies...

That's great that Java pulled through! Does she have any head tilt at
all? You must have really bonded with her with all that extra TLC you
were giving. Well, let's hope that the overgrown tooth is easy to sort
out.

Thanks! Sure is!

Yes she does seem to have a slight head tilt. It's not so noticeable,
but the way she gets herself turned around sometimes is.

That, and she seems to have decided that my bed is her new litterbox.

Hopefully it will be. The vet clipped it, and she seems to be eating fine.
